Chapter 55 - An Unexpected Ally

Wilbur and Tommy built up their base in a small hill, a few hundred blocks away from everything they had ever known. They had only one partial set of diamond armor, aside from a pick Tommy had kept and a few random items that they had had on them as they fled.

They were truly down and out. There was no way that they could do anything. All that was left was to start a new life. Rebuild themselves. And Dream watched.

But unfortunately for Tommy and Wilbur, Schlatt wasn't done with their nation. He wasn't content with control, he wanted to wipe their memories out of L'Manburg's history forever.

When he announced his second speech, Dream felt apprehensive. Nothing good could come from Schlatt speaking to the people formally. And this was no surprise in that regard. But the way that he went about his goal was a low blow, a direct destruction of all that Wilbur, Tommy, and every citizen of L'Manburg had worked for.

JSchlatt was forcing them to tear down the walls. There was no getting around it. He didn't even say he would get others to do it. No, this was personal. A targeted attack, and a blatant one.

So Dream, Tommy, and Wilbur watched as the very citizens of L'Manburg, that had been protected by these walls, were now the ones who must destroy them.

Yes, Dream did hold a faint hope that someone would protest. That the people would refuse Schlatt's orders. That they would attack, perhaps kill him, and take back control of their nation.

But it was not to be. Despite their protests, Schlatt gave them no heed, and they did not turn to violence. After all, L'Manburg was supposed to be a haven of peace.

But Schlatt's very next speech changed that as well.

But before that happened, Wilbur and Tommy had a stroke of luck.

And it came in the form of an old friend, as they were watching the walls come down from atop a nearby hill.

"Well, it looks like someone's feeling a bit put out."

Technoblade.

As the two of them turned around, Tommy shouted, jumping up and embracing him. WIlbur just stood there in shock.

"Hello there," Technoblade said. "It seems like you two need the help of an anarchist."

Dream wasn't sure what to think. This would be very, very good, or it could destroy L'Manburg.

But Dream was beginning to realize that L'Manburg was less vulnerable than it seemed.

They would rebuild, no matter what happened. Tubbo, Wilbur, Tommy, Fundy, everyone. Even with limited lives, they wouldn't stop fighting for what they loved.

Technoblade, Wilbur, and Tommy built up their new base in a ravine. And to no one's surprise, Technoblade had already built up a bit of an arsenal.

Then came Schlatt's third speech as president. He was changing the name of L'Manburg to just 'Manburg'. That was it. There was nothing left of Wilbur and Tommy except for in the memories of the people.

But now the conflict was ready. Wilbur's fuse was lit. He was changing already. Tommy had found his old strip mine going through the ravine that they were settling, giving them a direct path into Manburg. Technoblade was on their side, at least for now.

And Dream?

Dream was trying. Every day, he went out and tried to mine trees. He could make cracks, but he didn't yet have the stamina to break a block.

What he was preparing for, he didn't know. But what he did know was that it wouldn't be something small.

Yes, Schlatt had successfully removed Wilbur's memory from L'Manburg, or Manburg, as it was now called.

But he had just stirred the pot. And Wilbur was ready to brew up some destruction.
