Dream could feel Tommy's panic. It seeped through the stone to his mind, like a plea for help. But Dream wouldn't be able to do much against two fully armored enemies in this state. He could become semi-solid, but he couldn't deal any damage. He would be useless, except as a distraction. That did have merit, though not in itself, and they were likely to dismiss his presence anyway, or worse, realize that he wasn't the Dream they knew. The element of surprise was one of Dream's greatest advantages right now.
Because of Tommy's powerful feelings, Dream knew when Tommy was caught. Dream also knew because when he was, Tubbo took Fundy out of the camarvan, bringing him to the jail in the courthouse, where he said they were taking Tommy.
That left just Eret. Alone, with his thoughts. And as Dream could see from his mood, leaving Eret alone is a bad idea. He got an itching feeling in his mind. Something told him not to trust Eret. But what could he do?
He had to wait until something big happened. In his mind, it made sense. He had been made able to be more solid somehow at the conclusion of the first large-scale war on the server, and the crafting of the ender chest. So, if he was right, when this conflict ended, or perhaps when the real one began, he might be able to affect more things, or affect things in a more pertinent way.
In his mind, this was a small matter. But it may yet lead to something much greater. Dream recalled his brief vision of the five figures together, and he smiled beneath his mask as Eret betrayed Sapnap, Tubbo, Punz, and Purpled, allowing Wilbur to log back on safely.
The two of them began brainstorming, eventually settling on a plan for Eret, not known as a traitor, to take Fundy from Tubbo with the excuse that he was escorting him the rest of the way to prison, and then bring him to his house, where he could leave the materials for invisibility potions somewhere for Wilbur to take.
The plan went along well, with Dream following behind Eret, until they reached Fundy's house.
Because someone had overheard them talking. Someone named Purpled.
He called Sapnap over, telling him quickly about Eret's defection and his plan with Wilbur.
Dream walked along with them as Sapnap and Purpled escorted Eret and Fundy to the courthouse, where the two were put into a cell. Tommy was there as well in another cell, and while the captors were talking, it was discovered that the person they had set to guard Tommy, Ponk, had betrayed them as well, conspiring with Tommy for his freedom and the freedom of the others.
As everything was beginning to get out of hand, they were able to escape through pre-dug holes.
Now, everyone was free. Dream floated back to the camarvan, expecting them to meet back there again. As he was a distance away, he saw a flash of a memory. Walls built high around it. Stone, obsidian, then stone again, then obsidian again. Almost as soon as he noticed it, it was gone.
Because of this, he was already waiting as Tommy, Eret, and Fundy joined Wilbur and Tubbo, whose mood had changed, and he was now with them. That made five.
As they grouped together, Dream grinned, and saw his expression mirrored on Wilbur's face. He couldn't know how important these five would be.
But he began to understand. Dream could see the idea forming above him as it did, the scenes of glory and resistance against tyranny flashing large in his thoughts, though he didn't yet know what shape they would take.
Yes, these five, together, would be the ones to stand up to the other Dream on this server, bringing others in their wake. They would defy tyranny. They would resist. And they would invite others along.
They would be the ones to invoke revolution.
Revolution. The killer of tyranny.
Dream sensed something about that in his memories, but he couldn't access it yet. Surely it wasn't important right now, anyway. Revolution was the greatest killer of tyrants.
And for some reason, Dream didn't quite believe that.
