"So, then I just spent my coins to purchase the Dragon Balls, then I made the wish, and here we are," Gray nodded sagely at Celia, not liking the way she was staring at him blankly.
"So… you have magical powers that make everything look like a video game?" She asked blandly.
"Well, it's more like a curse than magic, since the system is a dick," Gray justfifed a bit.
Nightmare Mode fuckin' blows. I should've just picked easy.
"And, you have these magical little points that you can put into your video game stats, and that's making you stronger?" Celia asked again, looking at him doubtfully, "Which you get from quests?"
"...When you say it like that, it sounds like I'm crazy," Gray rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
"I think you might be," Celia sighed, but just shrugged at his words, "Whatever, it's not like I don't have a strange ability too. Whether you're insane or have magic powers doesn't really matter, does it? It's just helpful if anything."
I'm glad she's not freaking out.
Gray didn't think the woman would, but he didn't really know what to expect overall. He had given the rest of the squad a pretty poor explanation about just finding the Dragon Balls on Monas, and there being another set on King Kai's planet. Obviously, someone like Celia didn't buy it, though most of Gray's squad didn't really care enough to push the issue besides her.
"Yup," Gray just nodded with a grin, "Though maybe don't tell the others about this. I don't want anyone to think I can just pull Dragon Balls out of my ass whenever, y'know? I'm not that rich yet."
"I agree," Celia simply nodded at his words, "It'd be harder to trust an insane person to lead you, right?"
"I'm not insane," Gray replied dryly, but he knew from Celia's teasing tone that she wasn't being serious.
Overall, this conversation went a lot smoother than I expected.

Gray glanced around at the rest of his squad, who were standing ready as the final day on King Kai's planet arrived. Gray had waited until the very last minute to both consume another fruit and wish his squad back to Monas, as when including the trip time back to Planet Vegeta, they would only have one day to finish up on Monas.
Though if we're a bit late, what's King Vegeta going to do?
As Gray glanced over at his squad, scanning over each member and taking in their new power levels, he didn't think King Vegeta was all that scary anymore.
They all made insane progress.
While King Kai himself wasn't the greatest of teachers, just having nearly a full month to train with other powerful fighters, and even to train against fighters stronger than themselves, was enough to bring his squadmates' power levels up a ton. The strongest of the bunch was still Caulifla, though she could barely be compared to herself from a month ago.

With even Caulifla becoming strong enough to at least rival the Saiyan King, King Vegeta would be insane if he thought he could still order Gray around.
If he's not a dick, I'll work with him. If he is, then the Saiyans will have a new King.
Gray knew that King Vegeta didn't like Frieza's rule either, and that he wanted to go against the tyrant - he had literally told him as much during their first meeting. In a perfect world, the Saiyan King would realize how powerful Gray had become, and agree to work with him as an equal - which, even then, was Gray being generous to the man.
But it probably won't go that way.
Gray thought that it was much more likely than not that the prideful and arrogant Saiyan King would instead refuse to accept how powerful Gray had become, and refuse to stand on an equal level with a mere recruit.
Which, honestly, I can't fault him for.
Despite how powerful Gray had grown so quickly, he was indeed still a mere recruit, and practically a child compared to the Elite Saiyans who had been stacking up achievements for years.
If I were a King, and some random kid became super-powerful in a few months, I'd be freaked out too.
If King Vegeta didn't do the smart thing and still acted like a prick, then Gray would have no choice but to take the throne from the older Saiyan.
Which I would usually aim for anyway, but…
A new Saiyan King appearing meant Frieza would be suspicious, and considering the tyrant already didn't like the Saiyan's overall, there was a pretty decent chance he'd just try to kill Gray right away. Even if he didn't, Gray still had no idea how powerful the actual Vegeta, Prince Vegeta, was in this world.
In the series, he passed up his father when he was just a child.
Prince Vegeta had no reason to kill his Father and take the throne, and Gray knew via Celia that he was at least stronger than King Vegeta, even if he didn't know how strong.
But, I'm fuckin' 100x stronger than the King now. There's no way Vegeta's still stronger than me, right?
Gray at least hoped not, but that also wasn't a risk he wanted to take. His eyes went down the line of people standing in front of him, mentally deciding what to do as he held up his sheath.
I just had a fruit, and even if King Kai's healing could negate the negative energy, it won't stop my body from exploding by eating another one. I'll hand them out.
Considering the Tree of Might was still on Monas, it wasn't like Gray couldn't snag a few more after the mission anyway. Gray had considered giving one Saitama, but…
That bastard is already way too strong as it is! He's a nice guy and all, but I'm not making him any stronger than he already is.
Gray would consider the bald hero a friend at this point, as he'd come to like the man after spending a month sparring with him constantly, but that didn't mean he was just going to make the already overpowered hero even more overpowered. Gray trusted him, but he also didn't know what would happen after the mission finished - the Hero Association had agreed to aid him in the future fight against Frieza, but Saitama hadn't agreed to that, and the man was kind of a loose cannon.
It still takes Kaio-Ken x10 to fight evenly with him, even after the fruit buff.
The first real candidate to get one was obvious, that being Caulifla, and the next was pretty clear as well.

The shyer Saiyan's power level had pretty much quadrupled, and while it wasn't all that impressive compared to someone like Gray or Saitama, after eating a fruit, she would at least be able to provide support in a fight.
After that, one of the strongest members amongst the Saiyans was still Cabba.

He didn't make as much progress as I would've expected, but he was already stronger than the rest, so he didn't fall behind much.
However, Cabba was actually not someone who Gray wanted to give a fruit to, because he was-

Gray didn't want to risk buying another set of [Namekian Dragon Ball]'s just for the cooldown to end up not being expired, so he planned to buy a cheaper set of the [Earth Dragon Ball]'s to wish them back to Monas. That meant he only had one wish, so he couldn't both revive the remaining dead members of his group and return to Monas.
Sorry, Cabba, but I want to kick Boros' ass more than I wanna revive you.
After the humiliation Gray had faced, he wasn't fine with remaining on King Kai's planet for longer to wait out the cooldown while Frieza handled the Planet Coalition.
I need to pay him back personally. I can revive them after that.
It would be safer that way anyway, as while Cabba could certainly hold his own, Gray's other four squad members with halos over their heads - Ochaco, Raphtalia, Yen, and Len - definitely couldn't.
They improved a lot, but not enough to survive what's going to happen on Monas.
Gray scanned his eyes over the four quickly, looking at their power levels.

Ochaco and Raphtalia really do have some potential, huh?
Both of the women's power levels had increased by roughly 20x during the past month, though that was easier to accomplish when you were pretty weak to begin with. Nonetheless, they'd experienced much bigger gains than both Yen and Len, who had only roughly doubled their power levels, which showed that they did have more potential than the average Saiyan.
I ate one of the fruits, so there are nine left. Two for Caulfila and Kale, which leaves the other seven for-
The ones who Gray wanted to protect the most anyway, as while he liked the heroes with whom he'd been sharing the small planet with, he didn't value them nearly as highly as Asia, Tamari, Asuna, Saeko, Celia, or Fasha.
They made some serious, serious progress.
As Gray glanced over the six women, he could honestly say they had become stronger than he expected.

All of the women had made insane progress while training on King Kai's planet, but the most glaring was Asia.
I know she was one of the weakest in the squad, but her power level increased by, what… 750x?
Gray thought Tamari's insane growth of roughly one-hundred times was impressive, but that was expected for her, as she was a very physical fighter - something that power levels showcased. By comparison, Asia was a mostly Ki-based fighter, which wasn't always displayed within the power level.
But she's caught up physically.
Gray had suspected that Asia was pretty talented all the way back on Vargon, but this training time had confirmed it. Asia was practically a genius in Ki-based techniques, but her overall soft demeanor and personality had pushed her away from physical combat, and as a result, her body hadn't kept up with her Ki skills. After training day and night for a month with Tamari and Fasha, two very physical fighters, the soft Saiyan's physical body had caught up, and she'd shot upward in power level like a bullet as a result.
It's damn nice being a Saiyan, isn't it?
Compared to the rest of the Harroian heroes on King Kai's planet, the Saiyans had grown a lot faster. Most of the heroes didn't even double their power levels in the month of training, and yet Asia had increased hers by 750x.
"All of you, take this," Gray hummed casually, reaching into his sheath and pulling out the fruits. He tossed one to each of Caulfila, Kale, Asia, Tamari, Celia, Saeko, Asuna, and Fasha, leaving him with just one fruit remaining.
"A fruit?" Asia muttered cutely, tilting her head at it, and Gray just grinned.
"Eat them one at a time, and let King Kai heal you as you do," Gray explained simply, nodding at the Kai, who was standing nearby with an annoyed look on his face, "You'll get a crazy power boost afterward."
"Seriously, going against my advice, and even making me heal you all as you do," King Kai pouted a bit, but just sighed as he stepped forward, getting ready to heal Caulifla as she bluntly raised the fruit to her mouth and took a bite without a second thought.
I would give the last one to Raditz, but he's also dead, so instead, I'll give it to her.
Gray grinned a bit wider as he casually turned to Tatsumaki, tossing her the final fruit, much to Fubuki's dismay.
"Y-You want her to eat that?! Don't you remember what it did to you?" Fubuku huffed, puffing her cheeks out cutely at Gray.
"I didn't have a god to heal me through the power absorption. You'll be fine," Gray just nodded at Tatsumaki, who looked down at the fruit doubtfully for a moment, then shrugged.
Now, all that's left is to buy the Earth Dragon Balls and then head back to Monas.
Gray's training arc had finally ended, and he was satisfied with the results. Though he didn't know it at the time, he was about to find out that confidence was a bit misplaced.
His squad's return to Monas would be anything but easy.
