My Life as A Death Guard
Chapter 516: Let Me Show You Something Big
Hades gazed at the horizon. Colossal, cascading explosions bloomed like flowers, one after another, illuminating his pitch-black pupils.
"...What's happening over there?"
"Cyclone Torpedoes! Horus is trying to destroy Cadia!"
Trazyn's voice cracked in a sharp, distorted screech. The side of his face, blasted away by the Emperor, emitted a discordant, glitchy sound.
Hades breathed heavily. "Are they coming for me? You have the technology to teleport us away immediately, don't you, Trazyn?"
"Of course I do!" the Infinite roared. "But that's not the point! Thanks to your damned human Perturabo, most of the inhibitors on the Eye of Terror have been dismantled. And among them, Cadia is the most critical star—the inhibitor here cannot be destroyed!"
"And if it is?"
"Then the torn galaxy will never be able to close again!" Trazyn screamed in fury. He had already dispatched his clones to repair the inhibitors, but most of them had been deliberately sabotaged. This meant that even if Trazyn secretly reactivated the inhibition mode after the war, the Eye of Terror would continue to expand in the future...
But that wasn't the key. The key was—bringing the Dark Imperium out into the open. As long as Cadia hadn't fallen, it would act like a stone plugging a spring. Activating the Warp Inhibitor on Cadia would cause the Dark Imperium's psychic environment to gradually wither away over time.
Those damned Eldar waking up Slaanesh was one thing! But humans are also fond of playing with psychic powers, huh?!
Hades lay weakly on the ground, his vision darkening as he stared up at the sky above the equator, where it seemed as if ten thousand suns were rising all at once.
"Figurine King... hurry up and use your invincible technology to think of a solution..."
Hades was practically whispering. He saw Trazyn pacing anxiously beside him.
This was the first time Hades had ever seen Trazyn so flustered.
"Damn it, this is impossible—" Trazyn began, yet he still honestly started setting up some kind of device. Hades tentatively judged it to be a teleportation device.
"Stinking human brat, the Necrons aren't as omnipotent as you imagine," Trazyn declared in a tone of self-resignation. "First of all, I don't possess all the technology. Secondly, much of that technology has been temporarily lost—which includes the Warp Inhibitor."
"So, you can't rebuild a new line of defense against the Warp—and you can't close the Great Rift either," Hades concluded helplessly. He let Trazyn drag his heavy body toward the teleportation device.
"Correct!" Trazyn shouted.
Hades shifted his gaze, staring at Trazyn. "So Horus's plan was to keep the Great Rift open permanently to strengthen the power of Chaos?"
"No!" Trazyn said. "I'd bet ten cans of Coke that guy was just trying to kill you out of spite—"
Trazyn's voice trailed off. He stopped dragging Hades and looked into the distance, lost in thought. Then he turned back to stare at Hades.
"If I hadn't come to save you," Trazyn muttered to himself, his half-blown-up mechanical eye looking exceptionally eerie, "under the attack of the Cyclone Torpedoes, you would have exploded along with Cadia."
Hades suddenly felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end.
"The Black Domain released after your physical body's death would have crippled the creatures of the Warp, even devouring the psychic energy of the Eye of Terror... In fact, the Eye of Terror would have become the starting point for the physical world to backlash against the Warp."
"Next, your Black Domain will expand along the abundant psychic currents, spreading into the Dark Imperium, slowly growing and purging the residual psychic energy there."
Trazyn fell silent.
Hades fell silent as well.
They stared at each other.
"Sounds good to me," Hades said.
Trazyn shook his head violently. "No! Once that happens, no one will be able to contain your Black Domain. It will become an existence even more terrifying than the Warp—I warn you, Hades, stop judging the Necrons with your prejudices. We are dedicated to recovering our souls! Abandon your foolish ideas!"
Hades blinked, his voice a low, rasping wheeze. "As long as you can develop the technology to suppress the Black Domain before all souls are extinguished."
Trazyn burst into laughter, as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the universe.
"In your dreams!" The Infinite bellowed. "You're talking about psychic research—we are completely incapable of developing such technology. Who do you expect to do it? Humans? The Eldar? Or have you decided to put your faith in the Orks?!"
Hades gasped, staring at the agitated Trazyn.
"...So what are you going to do?"
"Go!" Trazyn waved his arm and continued dragging Hades, pulling him onto the teleportation device.
"I'm just a passing Good Samaritan! I'm only saving you—I'm doing all this of my own volition! By the gods, a job like this should be the responsibility of a whole species, a whole nation—not just a passerby who happened to be in the neighborhood!"
Despite his words, Trazyn's fleet, hidden near the Eye of Terror, began to awaken. They had a single objective: to prevent the Warp Inhibitor above Cadia from being destroyed.
Inwardly, Trazyn cursed the short-sightedness of these short-lived races, who would destroy the entire galaxy for the sake of their own species' interests and conflicts!
To avoid being caught in the crossfire, Trazyn had deliberately hidden his fleet in a remote location, meaning they were still some distance from the battlefield.
And truth be told, Trazyn had no desire to get involved in the Imperium's war as a Necron Dynasty from space—if the other Dynasties woke up and found out, he'd probably face a trial.
The teleportation device began to flicker, its light flaring. Hades blinked, feeling tears streaming from his eyes.
"Wait," Hades said.
Trazyn raised his hand, and the light dimmed once more.
"I have an idea."
Hades's gaze went blank. He felt the cold wind howling into his wide-open chest.
"My Black Domain can forcibly resonate with the Blackstone Obelisk, enhancing its inhibitory effect," Hades said calmly. "Is that possible?"
He saw Trazyn freeze in place, as if he had crashed. After three seconds, the electrical hum from Trazyn's body crackled back to life.
"Calculations show it is possible," Trazyn said, looking at Hades with a tremor. "But there are two problems."
"First, this will damage your body again. You may face ten thousand years of treatment and repair."
"Second," Trazyn continued, "the inhibitor defense line in the Eye of Terror, in the anchored direction, has already been destroyed. We cannot channel your excess Black Domain into the Dark Imperium—the Black Domain will spread indiscriminately. According to calculations..."
"The Black Domain, combined with the remaining inhibitors within the Eye of Terror, running at full power..."
Trazyn murmured, "The entire Obscurus Segmentum will be annihilated."
"The opening of the Eye of Terror caused half the galaxy to fall. And you—with the Eye of Terror as your center—could drag the entire Obscurus Segmentum into the Soul-less Land."
Hades took a deep breath, feeling himself begin to shiver from the cold.
"How many people are in the Obscurus Segmentum right now?"
Trazyn looked at Hades, their gazes locked. Hades realized they were about to lose a lot of people.
And in a place neither of them noticed—within Trazyn's storage space—that finger bone began to glow.

Note:
In short, Horus' plan is to wipe out every trace of physic energy and chaos stuff from the world by placing Hades on Cadia and killing him there, then letting the Black Domain go on a rampage.
