Qi Chao appeared absent-minded, something Qi Chongming quickly noticed.
Though Qi Chao maintained a facade of attentiveness throughout the evening, greeting each guest Qi Chongming introduced him to with sincere politeness, and even sharing a few light-hearted exchanges with some, he couldn't quite conceal his distant demeanor.
The third time Qi Chongming saw him scanning the crowd, he followed Qi Chao's gaze, raising an eyebrow and asking, "Who are you looking for?"
Qi Chao averted his eyes in an instant, replying coolly, "No one. I'm a bit tired. If there's nothing else planned for me, I'd like to leave."
Qi Chongming watched his retreating figure, his brows knitting tightly.
It had been nearly a month since Qi Chao returned to the Qi family. True to their agreement, he had joined the company and proactively familiarized himself with its operations, yet something felt amiss to Qi Chongming, as if Qi Chao's body was present, but his spirit was somewhere far away.
