Shane
The past week went by quickly and the day was finally here when I officially become the CEO of Blitz. I didn't imagine myself to be where I am right now. Taking over Dad was never my dream but as and when I grew up and seeing dad work inspired me and here I am.
I was waiting for it so eagerly. I wanted to talk to Skyler. I was swamped with work and she was avoiding me this past week. I still don't know why. I was going to get ready when the doorbell rang and I opened the door.
"Emma. Long time no see."
I hug Emma. She was Uncle Allan and Aunt Faith's daughter. She also had a twin brother Ethan. She rolls her eyes telling the obvious. "You moved out Shane and work is your first love. You don't have time neither do I."
I laugh at that statement but things may have changed a little.
"Now what brings you here?"
"Tyler sent me here to help her date out."
"Oh! She is upstairs." I call out for her "Skyler..." and then turn to Emma to talk with her.
"Coming."
Everyone in my family knows me and I was the eldest child in the family. I was close to all of them but then I moved out and everyone got busy with their work. We all drew apart but if there is an emergency we come rushing to help. Emma was in charge of the other branch of The Blitz. Not because of the family but for her merit. She says "You never allow anyone to your house. She must be really special."
I nod my head smiling."Oh yeah. She is. I will tell you everything in detail."
Skyler comes down the stairs in her PJ's and she looked pissed. I have to know why she is acting this way."Why are you screaming out my name so loud?"
"Emma is here. She is here to dress you." I introduce her to Emma and
Emma whispers in my ear in a way it's audible to me."She is beautiful."
I can't even tell how much.
"We don't have much time. Let's get you ready already." Emma says and Skyler takes her to her room.
"Let me take you to my room."
I start getting reading. My suit was here all cleaned up and iron. I took a shower and put on my suit. The event had a theme of Black and Gold.
So I decided to go in a black suit.
I wear my watch and put on some perfume. I set my hair and I was ready. I went downstairs and strolling across the hall. I was nervous. Two things took over my thoughts. Skyler and the event.
Then I heard the doorbell. I opened the door and it was Tyler in a black suit with a gold tie. It was a rare sight to see Tyler in a suit. He prefers wearing casual."You are here."
"Yes. You look great, Shane. Are you ready?" Tyler says. We both share a hug and I smiled."I have been waiting since forever."
"You are going to be fine. You worked so hard for it. Where is Skyler?"
He inquires looking around for Skyler and we step inside the house. I was about to ask him to go with Hailey. It's not that late anyways "About that..."
I was interrupted."Ahh! There she is."
As soon as Tyler says she is here. I shift my gaze to the stairs and I couldn't shift my eye from there anymore. Emma had done her charm.
She is going to stand out today and all eyes will be on her and I remember giving Emma the design I made. It was a metallic gold strapless neckline ball gown. She was wearing high gold color heels.



Her hair was all styled up and left open which flowed down her shoulders and her makeup was natural and light. She had light pink blush on her cheeks and as she smiled a dimple formed on her cheeks. Her gaze fixed down, she carefully came down the stairs with Emma but my eyes were on her. She had bewitched me with her smile and her glowing brown eyes.
She looked mesmerizing. I was enchanted by her. I was loving it and it made me happier to see her wearing a dress designed by me. As she came down she sort of avoided me and stood beside Tyler smiling at his joke but I was captivated. I was feeling a lot of emotions I haven't felt before.
I didn't even dare to look anywhere else. Tyler and Emma looked at me astonished by my behavior but I can't help. She kept looking at me with the corner of her eye thinking I won't notice but I did.
"My job is done here. I am leaving. See you there and all the best Shane." Emma says bringing me back and I hugged her goodbye.
"Thank you, Emma. Tyler if you don't mind can I take Skyler? I know you don't mind." I glare at Tyler and he immediately understood what I meant. I meant to say 'Agree to me now I will explain later.'
Whenever we are out and wanted to talk to each other we would just look in the eyes and the other one got the signal. Tyler says and I sighed that he got what I was trying to say."Of course, I don't mind. I can go with Hailey."
"That's what I was explaining to her but she won't listen to me like always."
"I am not going with you. Let's go Tyler." And with that, she put her hand at his and walked away. Tyler looked back and said 'I am sorry.
Why are you doing this Skyler?
With no choice and Skyler leaving with Ty. I waited for my car. I went to Hailey's house to pick her up.
"Why the frown on such a big day?"
She takes a pause and speculates.
"Skyler..."
I nod my head. How did we come from being so free to each other to ignore? I saw the looks she gave me this past week. She was angry about something. I don't know what. I worked till late and when I came back home she was asleep. In this case, how will I tell my feelings for her?
"Everything will be fine. Cheer up, Shane. It's your big day." I know it's my big day but it didn't feel like it with her ignoring me. We reached the venue and as soon as I stepped out of the car. The paparazzi started clicking photos and I made my way in. I posed for some pictures with Hailey.
My eyes were searching for her. After looking for her everywhere in the crowd, I saw her sitting with Tyler at one of the tables. As soon as she notices that I spotted her she shifts her gaze away from me and gulps down the wine from the glass in front of her. I whisper in her ear "Hailey there she is." and she looked in her direction.
She playfully hits my arm and whispers back. " Shane, you didn't tell me she is this beautiful."
I couldn't help but smile. The fact was true. "Let's go then. What are we waiting for?"
I was stopped by people on my way. I did look at Skyler while talking to them. I see that she gulps a glass of wine after she sees me angrily and choked on it.
She starts coughing and tells something to Tyler something. She gets up from the chair and heads towards the washroom which made me worried. Is she fine? Is something wrong because it was not long she was in the hospital but I couldn't go after her?
After a few minutes, she comes back and sits beside Tyler when I was talking to Mom and Dad. She looked a bit pale and worried. It made me anxious.
As soon as I greet everyone and get a chance to go back to Skyler. Emily comes out of nowhere and hugs me and I awkwardly smile back at her. "How are you, Shane? It's been so long. You never pick up my calls and reply to my texts."
I didn't pick up your calls because I was ignoring you stupid.
If you all think that I hated Skyler earlier. You haven't seen my hatred for Emily. It cannot be matched to anything.
"I will see you later," I say but she blocks my way. I have to go to Skyler and talk to her, ask her if she is fine. I don't want to talk to you.
"Hailey, can you excuse us?" She glares at Hailey and I roll my eyes. Hailey is not going to leave. I am leaving to see Skyler but Hailey had a wicked smile on her face.
"Of course. He is all yours."
Don't leave me alone with her. Oh no, She didn't. Hailey, I will kill you for this. Somebody save me from this pyscho. I cried internally."I was waiting for so long for you to come."
"Ah-huh."
"Yeah. I have to say we always had this connection between us. It seems like yesterday we met. We should get married. Today you will be the CEO of Blitz, one of the best companies and I am one of the best Cancer specialists. We will be the next power couple." I have a deep connection with you, Emily. I can't forget a connection like ours. A connection of hatred. That's all I feel for you. In your dreams.
Enough of her nonsense. I have to go see Skyler."I don't know what I did that made you think of this. We went on a date once and clearly, I don't have feelings for you. I am sorry. I won't marry you even if you are the last girl left on Earth."
"You will realize it sooner." She takes a step closer to me and places my arm on mine. A minute longer with her I will have to go book a bed in the mental hospital.
"Nice to meet you Emily but I will have to steal my brother."
Thank God. Taylor. I love you with all my heart."Ok, whatever."She groans and stomps her foot and leaves angrily. I don't care about it.
We then walk to where the others are seated."I love you, Taylor. You are a savior. I guess you are my favorite sibling now."
"Yeah. Listen to him Hailey and Tyler." Taylor boasts about it then I laugh."I am kidding. I love you all equally."
"Come on everyone has a favorite."
"End of discussion." I put a stop to this fight. I remember fighting with my parents about who is their favorite and they would say they loved us equally.
"Taylor and Tyler can you come with me for a second?" Hailey pulls them away leaving me and Skyler alone. Finally, I got the chance to talk to her. I took a seat beside her.
I take the glass of wine and drink it looking at her and she looks away from me avoiding my presence.
"Is something wrong? You are being distant since the last week. I can see you are ignoring me."
"It's nothing." She says and I am sure it's something. How will I know if she doesn't talk?
"There is something. Tell me. Talk to me, Skyler." She looks at me and her fiery gaze became soft.
She was close to crying. I was going to hold her hand when Tyler came with glasses in his hands.
"We brought drinks."Tyler why do you have to interrupt every time?
"Thank you, Tyler."
"Ahh! The dance is starting."
"Look at Mom and Dad on the floor." I looked at Skyler and she looked at me. This is my chance and the perfect opportunity. I should grab it but before I could ask.
"Tyler we should dance too." She says and takes Tyler to the dance floor unwillingly.
"She is trying to make you jealous," Hailey mumbles while I look at them dancing hand in hand.
"How do you know and why?"
"I know. I can see it in her eyes."
When she grabbed Tyler's hand and took him to the dance floor. I was burning with rage. A wave of jealousy swept over me. Tyler was my little brother but seeing him dance with her I couldn't bear it.
I gulped down the glasses of wine and almost crushed the glass with my hand. I didn't take my eyes off her for a second.
"That's it. I can't tolerate this anymore."
