Adeline gave Everett some space to breathe. He needed it, the tremor in his hands, the distant flicker of panic that still lingered in his eyes, told her he hadn't fully come back to himself yet. She placed a soft barrier around him, just enough to give him quiet. He'd been trapped, used, and violated in a way no one could ever properly describe. Whatever strength he once had, it would take time to reclaim it.
She turned to the others. They were huddled together in clusters, clinging to each other like survivors of a shipwreck. Many of them were trembling, some barely conscious, others bleeding or burned. Adeline took a deep breath, her heart heavy, and began healing them one by one.
