"Did she have her dinner?" Caden asked without looking up from the documents.
The butler entered the study and took a step forward. "Yes, sir. The maid just brought down an empty plate."
"The doctors have advised to keep a check on her diet," Caden's instruction were clear. The butler noted it and nodded.
"Don't worry, sir. We will take care of Young Miss."
Caden finally glanced up at him and nodded, before gesturing him to leave.
The butler inclined his head in respect before he retreated from the room.
After he left, Caden intertwined his finger over his desk, thinking back about what Selene had said. And his jaws hardened.
He hadn't encouraged her —not because he didn't blame the woman for who Aiden acted this way. But because he didn't want Selene to get into trouble.
Selene was his daughter —one whom he has spoiled and pampered. He could see her taking risks of offending Aiden again.
