Robbin completely ignored Morris, who was rambling incessantly beside him, and simply asked, "I've been back for five days. Has anything happened outside? Has the military lifted the lockdown?"
Catherine couldn't lie, so she simply replied, "Not yet, and the public is demanding that the lockdown in Phoenix continue."
"Why?" Robbin asked, puzzled. "Weren't they demanding an end to the lockdown in Phoenix?"
"Because they're afraid of the plague spreading. Those rats are contaminated creatures, and coupled with the media promoting stories about the plague, now the public doesn't want the military to lift the lockdown."
Catherine then recounted what was happening outside.
But she didn't explain what caused those who were infected with the plague. She only described how these people showed symptoms and mentioned that the government stated this thing wasn't contagious.
What she said was true, but she withheld some of the most important details.
