The once dissipated fighting spirit rose again. They set down their pickaxes and gripped their weapons tightly.
CLANG...
A piercing clash of metal sounded.
"Die!"
Carl stepped forward and cleaved with rage. His broad sword, carrying immense force, descended from above, knocking aside the curved blade to rest at Matthew's neck.
The blade swept across.
PFFT!
Blood splattered.
The Knight was dead!
"Haha..."
Jacqueline burst into laughter, looking up to the sky, "Knight!"
"Carl, you actually managed to kill a Knight! No matter what happens today, I'm with you now."
Carl was completely encased in armor, including his face, so no one could see his expression. He casually flicked the blood from his blade.
"Let's go!"
He rushed forward, his sword cutting down two resisting soldiers in his path as he charged towards the upper levels.
Approaching footsteps sounded from ahead.
