"What's wrong?"
When Wang Jian didn't respond, Wang Xiang asked again.
"It's nothing... I just spaced out." Wang Jian hadn't been spacing out at all; he was busy thinking about what would happen to Xu Qian now that Wang Xiang was returning.
Wang Xiang was Wang Jian's older brother, the family's eldest son, and five years his senior.
The brothers hadn't seen each other in eight years. In Wang Jian's memory, Wang Xiang was a cheerful person who smiled a lot. That was his most profound impression of his brother, and perhaps because of it, they didn't have much to talk about.
"What's the train number?" Wang Jian asked. "I'll make time."
"K323... It should arrive around 4:30 in the afternoon. It'll take me a while to get out of the station, so just show up around then," Wang Xiang's voice came through the phone. "Don't tell your sister-in-law I'm coming back."
"Okay," Wang Jian agreed, then asked naturally, "Why?"
