Genshin Impact: I'm The Envoy of Snezhnaya
Chapter 433: The Anemo Archon at the Goth Grand Hotel
"That looks like... the Traveler?"
The glass windows before him rattled continuously with loud clanging noises. Even a pigeon had been blown into one of the windows by the fierce winds, letting out a series of distressed coos.
Yet despite the raging storm outside, Bai Luo remained completely unaffected indoors.
Anastasia had reinforced all the doors and windows of the Goth Grand Hotel before the disaster struck.
Unless Dvalin deliberately targeted the building, there would be no problems here.
Sipping the grape juice that Jianna had personally poured for him, Bai Luo slowly narrowed his eyes.
And whenever he made that expression, it meant someone was about to have a bad day.
Although he had never directly interacted with Lumine, reports from his subordinates had informed him that she still had not obtained a Wind Glider.
Which meant that if she fell from the sky, she would most likely die from the impact.
Under normal circumstances, this would be the moment for Bai Luo to step in.
But... Bai Luo refused.
He could sense that some unseen force was trying to influence him from behind the scenes, subtly pushing him to take the role of the Anemo Archon in the original storyline.
Back in the forest, he had already unintentionally become a "god of wind" once.
This time, he had no intention of playing along with whatever mysterious entity was manipulating events.
Besides, he was curious to see whether the little companion who always followed the Traveler around would surprise him under these circumstances.
. . .
"Traveler!!!"
Lumine was falling fast.
After breaking through the clouds, the ground rapidly expanded in her field of vision.
Paimon desperately tried to grab hold of her, but aside from pulling out a few strands of hair, she did nothing to slow Lumine's descent.
Just as she was about to be smashed to death on the ground, the wind moved.
"Gale Blade!"
Amid the violent storm, a gentle current of wind was drawn out.
It wrapped around Lumine and Paimon, gently lowering them onto the plaza below.
Although they landed hard enough to fall on their backsides, it was far preferable to plummeting to their deaths.
"Are you two alright?"
Putting away the Sword of Favonius, Jean spoke with concern.
The one who had saved Lumine was none other than the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius—Jean.
Jean had originally planned to visit the plaza to meet the Traveler whom the Ausbilder had specifically ordered people to find. Unexpectedly, she witnessed Lumine being swept into the storm caused by Dvalin.
Acting on instinct, she rescued the girl who had nearly fallen to her death.
This caused Bai Luo, who was watching from the Goth Grand Hotel, to click his tongue in annoyance.
Tsk. Meddlesome woman.
"I-I'm fine."
Holding the sobbing Paimon, who had thrown herself into her arms, Lumine instinctively reached for her Dull Blade.
However, Jean immediately stopped her.
After sheathing the Sword of Favonius, Jean raised her head and looked toward Dvalin high in the sky.
"Dragon of the East, please calm your anger. Why would you, the guardian of Mondstadt, turn your wrath against this city?"
Jean had always wanted an opportunity to speak with Dvalin, but circumstances had never allowed it.
Now, seeing that Dvalin had not left after unleashing the Dragon Storm and was instead hovering in the sky, she had no intention of letting the chance slip away.
"Descendant of Gunnhildr..."
Jean's voice seemed to bring some clarity to Dvalin's chaotic state of mind.
The Gunnhildr Clan was one of Mondstadt's ancient knightly families. According to legend, they had protected Mondstadt since the very first epic was written.
Their history was even older than that of the Dragon of the East himself.
"By the blood of Gunnhildr, I shall forever protect Mondstadt!"
Performing a knight's salute, Jean recited the oath engraved upon her very soul.
It was the burden carried by her ancient lineage.
"Where is Barbatos? Let him come see me!"
Dvalin's roar echoed throughout all of Mondstadt.
Fortunately, those words were directed only at Jean.
To everyone else, it sounded merely like the furious roar of a dragon.
After all, Dvalin now trusted only the descendants of Gunnhildr.
"The Anemo Archon?"
Upon hearing Dvalin mention Barbatos, the first place Jean looked was neither the Cathedral of Favonius nor the statue behind her.
Instead... she looked toward the Goth Grand Hotel.
If she remembered correctly, Dvalin seemed to have mistaken the Ausbilder for the Anemo Archon.
Although none of them wanted to believe it, could the Barbatos Dvalin was referring to actually be the Ausbilder?
"That's right. He is within this city. Or does the House of Gunnhildr intend to deceive me as well?"
With a thunderous crash, the enormous dragon landed atop the city walls. Dvalin lowered his hooked, beak-like snout toward Jean.
"After Lord Barbatos entrusted the governance of Mondstadt to the Knights, he vanished without a trace. We have not seen him for a very long time."
Faced with the massive beast before her, Jean showed neither fear nor caution. Instead, she stepped forward and gently placed a hand on the dragon's sharp snout.
This time, Dvalin did not become angry at her explanation.
Compared to Barbatos—that irresponsible deity who never seemed to do any actual work—the Gunnhildr family's reputation was impeccable.
As inheritors of the knightly code, they were known as people who would never lie.
"He is in the city... Why would he do this...?"
It seemed that tears once again fell from Dvalin's eyes as he let out mournful cries.
The sight filled Jean with sorrow as well.
After all, this was the guardian who had protected Mondstadt for centuries.
"If you mean the Anemo Archon you're speaking of, then I may know where he is."
Still stroking Dvalin's snout, Jean spoke softly.
"Where is he?!"
Jean's words rekindled hope in the dragon's pain-filled heart.
"If the intelligence is correct, he's over there."
As she spoke, Jean pointed toward the Fatui-controlled Goth Grand Hotel.
Was this a case of killing with a borrowed knife?
Not really.
Although the Fatui had repeatedly pressured Mondstadt over the Dvalin crisis, Jean—an heir to the Gunnhildr code of chivalry—would never intentionally do something so underhanded.
She was simply showing a grieving dragon the person he was searching for.
Besides, based on the information Diluc and the others had previously brought back, wasn't the Barbatos Dvalin spoke of actually Bai Luo?
Jean was not lying.
Following the direction of her finger, Dvalin's gaze landed directly on Bai Luo, who was leisurely drinking grape juice inside the hotel.
Then he noticed the white pigeon pressed against the window.
His anger immediately intensified.
After all, speaking with animals was one of Barbatos's abilities, wasn't it?
The man would rather chat with a pigeon than have a proper conversation with him.
"BARBATOS!"
"Pffft—!"
Bai Luo sprayed a mouthful of grape juice.
Staring blankly at Jean, who was pointing directly at him, he briefly entertained the urge to "re-educate" her into becoming a completely obedient Jean.
Couldn't you have just sent him away? Why drag me into this mess?
The hand reaching for another grape stopped midair.
Grabbing a nearby Sunsettia instead, Bai Luo kicked open the window.
Using the tension of a steel wire, he swung toward a neighboring building.
At the same time, he successfully lured Dvalin away from the Goth Grand Hotel, preventing the dragon from crashing into it.
