"You... are different. Even though those guys were talking, their words were meaningless. There's a spark of intelligence in your eyes," said Demon King Piccolo as he looked more closely at the Bio-Warrior's body.
As mentioned, she had a feminine figure and purple skin. However, under Piccolo's scrutiny, he noticed shades of this color on her body. A strange layer of skin, very different from the rest, gave her a 'dressed' appearance, as if she were wearing a tight leotard of that color.
Her hair had white strands, and, as if alert to the demon's movement, strands of black energy surrounded her body. The most impressive thing was that she managed to exert some control over that chaotic and murky Ki!
"Smart? Is that what you call not being a disaster like those guys?" the Bio-Warrior asked curiously, looking at her fallen comrades on the ground.
This revealed her innocence and ignorance; after all, she was born in a laboratory. Except for the most basic knowledge she received during her gestation, she knew nothing about the world, which made her very interested in it.
"You could say that. In fact, you seem more promising than those self-important pieces of trash," Demon King Piccolo replied calmly. Unlike the two scientists or the Bio-Warriors who attacked him, this person was more promising. Demon King Piccolo replied calmly because, unlike the two scientists or the Bio-Warriors who attacked him, the person standing before him showed promise.
Yes, person! To him, this woman had transcended her nature and become something more. Demon King Piccolo may not have had scientific knowledge, but even he, a demon, knew how miraculous life was. After all, he himself was the evil side of Kami-Sama.
"It seems I have underestimated my creations. Without a doubt, life finds a way. My daughter, you are the living image of the miracle of life. It seems I must take action myself." Doctor Wheelo's voice could be heard in the room, and soon, certain things began to activate in the scientist's secret base.
It was time to test the new mechanical body he and his partner, Doctor Kochin, had worked so hard on. Sensing the imminent threat, Piccolo watched the screen projecting Doctor Wheelo's brain image.
Although he couldn't sense Ki outside the room, his sense of danger remained. Something in the scientist's words sent a chill down his spine, a reaction he considered a sign of weakness.
That was unacceptable!
...
Bulma, observing incognito, felt she had to take action. What she was seeing was practically a miracle of bioengineering. She didn't want it ruined by Piccolo and Doctor Wheelo, or worse, for it to die.
She had to adopt this little one! She looked at Goku and Lazuli, who were minding their own business. The young Saiyan was curiously exploring some biological samples because they were currently in one of the scientists' personal laboratories, most likely Doctor Kochin's.
Goku was drawn to a specimen of a giant cicada that had emerged from its shell, leaving a large crack on its back.
Goku didn't know why, but he had a strange premonition at that moment that he would have to face a being with these characteristics in the future. Others would only have a passing thought about this and not pay much attention to it, but Goku took it into account and remembered it.
'Bulma said I should trust my instincts. It seems a giant cicada will be my enemy in the future!' The Saiyan's eyes sparkled with excitement, and his tail moved from side to side as if he were a cat.
Unlike the canonical Goku, this Saiyan followed a different school. Although it had a lot to do with the Turtle School, the Sora School placed a lot of emphasis on the spiritual aspect.
Thus, the young Saiyan trained his body, mind, and spirit. He meditated as much as he exercised, read as much as he launched ki attacks, and contemplated nature as much as he sparred with friends.
Overcome with excitement, he wanted to tell Bulma, but knowing he couldn't speak yet, he wagged his tail and explored the laboratory, taking an interest in insects because they fascinated him.
Because he had received an education, he was fascinated by these creatures. He even intended to study to become an entomologist, a scientist who studies insects and related animals.
Lazuli, on the other hand, had no interest in these insects. She felt a strange repulsion towards them, as if they were her natural enemies. She had gone to the other side of the laboratory and focused her attention on human bodies contained in glass chambers.
Curiously, these humans had no vital signs but had metal pieces embedded in their bodies, mechanical prostheses. The devices seemed to be operational, emitting constant buzzing and beeping sounds.
Like Goku, Lazuli had a strange feeling when she saw these specimens, but she didn't understand where the feelings of pain, sadness, and relief came from. It was as if she had escaped a sad fate.
'Why...?' At that moment, Lazuli's mind began to fill with random, wild, intrusive thoughts. Soon, however, a clarity of mind swept all that away. It was something she had become accustomed to, and at that moment, she remembered.
Bulma had told her that she had made a wish on the Dragon Balls for herself and her brother. Bulma decided to explain why she knew about the Dragon Balls later, when she found a suitable way to tell Lazuli.
She told Lazuli because she trusted her, and she didn't want this issue to remain unresolved because it had a lot to do with Lazuli. How could Bulma keep something like that to herself?
The blonde wanted to know the reasons why, but she listened to Bulma and decided to wait. Now, however, she couldn't help but associate the condition of these people with mechanical enhancements with that issue.
Since she knew that Bulma had the technology to explore other timelines, had she undergone some kind of mechanical transformation in another timeline? Lazuli wondered. The answers would come to her in the future. For now, she could only bow her head and acknowledge that she owed her girlfriend a lot.
When Bulma turned around to tell the team their next steps, she was met with two intense stares from her younger brother and partner. This caused her to instinctively use her empathic ability and perceive the emotions they were experiencing.
'By Kami-Sama... What the heck happened in such a short time?' Bulma thought. She didn't understand why Goku was so excited, like when he gave Tama catnip. She also didn't understand why Lazuli's emotions had hearts in them.
Was that even possible? Bulma took this development as an improvement in her empathic abilities. Although they seemed to have no combative use, this sense of emotion was indefensible and had an enormous range.
If you were a stone with no consciousness, Bulma probably couldn't feel your emotions. However, if you had the slightest sensitivity, Bulma's empathic ability would surely "pick you up," giving it an inescapable nature.
Since they couldn't speak, Bulma used her energy to access her psychic powers. Having all three types of energy did not distract her because the technique taught by Son Gohan gave her excellent control over her power.
Thus, she could handle all three powers adequately, although she always focused on Ki, her strongest power. Then, her body was tinged with a bluish glow that spread to Goku and Lazuli, connecting their consciousnesses.
"I found a target as valuable as the information I came to gather!" Bulma declared through the mental link she had created; her voice appeared directly in the minds of her companions.
"Is it like those strange potions you stored in capsules recently?" Goku asked curiously. Bulma shook her head.
"No, it's an intelligent Bio-Warrior. Really intelligent. She seems quite special. I'd like to adopt her." When the blue-haired girl said those words, she looked directly at Lazuli. Upon hearing her say that, Lazuli opened her eyes wide in amazement.
"We're too young to be mothers!" Lazuli replied. Since they were communicating through a mental link, some of Lazuli's emotions were transmitted through it. Goku realized that Lazuli didn't seem to reject the idea.
Since Bulma had kept her empathic ability open, she could better perceive her girlfriend's emotions. She smiled and showed them both the tablet while telling them how special this Bio-Warrior was. She had decided to call her Letty without even having met her.
...
Bulma led her companions to the room where the Demon King, Piccolo, and the special Bio-Warrior, Letty, were located. She sensed a change in the emotions of the key people at this secret base, particularly Doctor Wheelo.
He was radiating an intense, murderous intent! After hearing the scientist's words and hacking into part of the base's systems, Bulma figured out what the man's confidence was based on, so she hurried.
The trio arrived just in time at one of the entrances to the special room. Bulma quickly created an energy wall made of hexagons to defend herself and the others from a shockwave and the flames of an explosion.
"Damn it!" Bulma shouted angrily. She never expected Doctor Wheelo to be crazy enough to detonate the explosive charges he had installed in the room.
Every evil scientist has bombs in their secret base, and Wheelo was no exception. Wheelo was no exception! Every important place in the facility was filled with explosive material that could be controlled by its owners, Doctor Wheelo and Doctor Kochin.
Bulma assumed this was what the scientists had done, perhaps to hurt Demon King Piccolo. However, when you gain a certain amount of power, certain weapons lose their effectiveness.
Although he was covered in soot, dust, and debris, Piccolo was relatively unharmed. The demon waved his hands, causing a gust of wind that cleared the air. He quickly focused on the Bio-Warrior, hoping she had survived.
She had, but she looked battered, with a look of grievance on her face. She had no serious injuries. The Bio-Warrior began patting her body, readjusting some broken bones and taking advantage of her status as a synthetic creature to heal from the explosion's aftermath.
"It seems you no longer want to put on a fake smile, Wheelo. Although, can you even smile now that you're just a brain in a bucket?" Demon King Piccolo knew he was still being monitored by the scientist and raised his voice to say those hurtful words.
"When someone tries to brainwash you from a distance, a fake smile is the best way to stop them, isn't it?" Doctor Wheelo replied, but not through the nearby speakers. His voice came from a distance, accompanied by the sound of stomping and the shaking of the surroundings.
Everyone present watched as something colossal approached: an entirely mechanical body made of dark metal. It was a mecha much more refined than its canonical version.
Though it had a humanoid silhouette, a long tail trailed behind it. Its hands were now cold claws ending in spikes, not pincers. Rather than having an exposed area of glass showing Doctor Wheelo's brain, the mecha was completely sealed with two red eyes observing everything in front of it.
"If my scanners are correct, there are some rats nearby. It seems I have to use one of the results of my Ki research," said Doctor Wheelo, pointing to where Bulma and the others had hidden.
A green crystal in the mecha's palm began to glow, accumulating a large amount of energy in a very short time. Bulma glanced at it quickly before smiling.
She wasn't going to be the one to get rid of this great toy. Goku already had experience with mechas, didn't he? She would leave this responsibility to him!
