Chapter 49 - CO-WIFE'S GRUDGE

She picked the flower vase from the table and hit it on Ishtar's head so jealously.

In sudden shock, Bob Lee's hands lost grip on Ishtar. She slipped out of his arms and fell on the floor, where she laid unconscious. Covered in fear, with compassion to help the hit down young lady to wake, Bob Lee scratched his head with disbelief as he lifted Ishtar's head from down in total confusion.

He blamed Nadia Browne for her brutal act:

"Why did you do that for?!"

Remorseless, Nadia Browne replied:

"For a bitch I warned never to show her face anywhere around my man, I don't give a damn. She had guts to bring her ass up in my home!"

Bob Lee released Ishtar's head and stood up angrily in Nadia's face.

"Hold it there! Yes, I am your man. But I was her man before I became yours remember! Better tell yourself the fuckin truth before you do anything stupid."

With consciousness of guilt, Nadia chuckled indifferently:

"Don't beat around the bush. Say it straight in my face that she is better than me! I can see how you're all into her, yearning restlessly. Prove it to me that she matters more than I do!"

She added in whisper:

"Coward."

With a calm attitude Bob Lee spoke:

"Look. You're taking this too far _ beyond the sense it's supposed to make! Whatever it is, hitting her was unnecessary!"

As Bob Lee was attentively talking to Nadia Browne, down on the floor, Ishtar, with blood marked on her forehead, sluggishly began to open her eyes, gaining her consciousness.

Bob Lee sobbed in exasperation and added:

"Ishtar is the assassin we tried to set up to be caught by the police."

"That's impossible!"

He explained to her:

"I also didn't believe it when I saw her face on hotel cameras. I had to find a way of saving her from being caught by the police. So, I had to send a text on their assassin booking link, informing whoever was behind it that the mission was a set up and they were going to get caught. With a mini video evidence of the police at the hotel that I sent to the link, when I promised to help, they trusted me with her direct contact and I called her. Thats how she ended up here in our home."

"You mean you saved her ass?!"

"Of course I had to do that. Remember she's a mother to my only child. As a father, I need to know how the little one is doing. Besides, we're the ones who pushed her to the wall and left her with no choice!"

With display of raw emotion, Bob Lee added:

"All she did was to take care of my mother... and me."

Abruptly, Nadia Browne busted.

"Shame upon your weak ass.... You'll never stand with your balls to make a bold decision! That's how you've always been; timid and weak!"

"Maybe I've made a couple of foolish decisions, but I am not weak Nadia. And am not timid either."

"Yes you're. And one of the foolish decisions you made was to save this bitch ass."

Senstively, Nadia added:

"Both of us know how my uncle's home was raided and he was assassinated. When we carried out a private investigation, we found a link to the assassin who killed him. And if this bitch here is the assassin, then she has to be dead or behind bars."

But Bob Lee told her:

"Remember Ishtar was an innocent young lady with a beautiful life going on for herself. And we took all that away from her. It was me and you who contributed to this messy life she's living right now!"

Nadia Browne coldly responded:

"Cut that crap."

Then she walked out of place. He watched her leaving unbothered, until she was out of his sight. He then inhaled deeply and exhaled heavily to relax the tension.

Unknowingly to Nadia Browne and Bob Lee, Ishtar was listening to all their argument. She started gathering her bones to stand up.

As soon as he set his eyes on her trying to lift herself up, Bob Lee panicked.

"Oh, thank God you've not died. I was about to call the paramedics."

Quickly, he picked napkins from the table and carefully helped to whip blood that was from the injury on the side of her forehead.

"Ouch!"

"Sorry. Can I rush you to the hospital?"

Ishtar didn't answer. This time round, she was as calm as the rising sun. Her voice was too humble comparing to that of a church girl. And, so soft like she can't hurt an insect, she allowed him to walk her gently to one of the chairs on the dining aside, and sat her down with intensive care.

After all, from Nadia's strong hitting, she had managed to recovered her long lost memory.

Curious with guilt, Bob Lee asked:

"It's not healthy to argue like that... I mean, if you've heard it, I am truly sorry."

Knowledgeably, Ishtar replied:

"You mean you had a fight with your wife when I was laying down unconscious? No... you didn't have to take it there Bob!"

However, this is exactly what Ishtar wanted. Changing the topic really quick to know more about how he was coping up with life in her absentia, she wore an agreeable smiled and added:

"You and your wife have quite a beautiful home here."

"Oh, you mean this? The bank wants to take it. We already have a crazy debt."

"So sorry to here that."

But she wasn't at all sorry for him. She added so peacefully:

"I have seen how your wife is so protective of you, that's really awesome. And she was very right to call me a bitch by the way. It's all my fault to forget that she once promised to harm me if she ever sees me anywhere close to you. If I really knew Phillip was driving me to my ex husband's house, I swear I would have jumped into the road for peace to rain."

Bob Lee quickly intervened:

"No no no, Ishtar come on. As a woman, she can say whatever makes her feel a queen but she has no right to touch even a single strand of your hair."

Deep inside, Ishtar was both happy and mad. She was happy with the way Bob Lee was caring about her. The love he had for him was still standing strong. But she was mad for how he abandoned her for another woman. So, she provoked him with another touching point.

"By the way, I didn't see the kids. Are they at school? Sorry to ask but last time we were at your mother's mansion, your wife rejoiced the pregnancy she was carrying for you."

Everything single question Ishtar was asking had Bob Lee giving her anxious glances. He sobbed in confusion and scratched the back of his head speechlessly.

"It's all complicated.... But, how is our child?"

As soon as he asked about the child, Ishtar's past wounds freshly opened. Old memories of pain resurfaced. She remembered all that she went through under his watch, the fake promises he made her; the embarrassments she endured; the psychological torture and sleepless nights she experienced in marriage because her husband was sleeping out with Nadia Browne....

And now, Ishtar gets to remember how Pixie and her parents were responsible for the way abouts of her baby.

"I'm sorry I have to be on my way. I have a flight to catch."

Ishtar stood up tough. And as she found her way out, Bob Lee asked her to allow his driver drop her off to the airport. But, while on the compound, about to get into the G-wagon whose engine was still roaring, Nadia Browne saw her and approached with confrontation.

"So, you're not dead...? You know... for a year when you had left, I faced a nightmare existence. I regretted why I didn't just kill you and know that you're gone for good. But as time went by, I got over it. My days kicked on smoothly and I started living. But now that I've seen your bitch ass face again, I can only rest when you are dead."

Before she put her foot on the G-wagon side step to sit inside and closed the door, Ishtar paid full attention to listen to Nadia Browne's hatred words.

"I will keep that in mind."
