Chapter 13 - A mob

I ended up in Mo Jinsheng's car. My butler slash driver decided to go ahead of me to work because Mr. Mo was here.

The ride was more peaceful than I could have anticipated. Mo Jinsheng was doing his own thing while I browsed the news.

A disturbing screech interrupted this peaceful atmosphere. I looked slowly up.

"What's wrong?" Asked Mo Jinsheng in his usual flat tone.

"Sir, it's quite..."

I tensed then relaxed. The road we were plying was the safest road in the city. Anything can not just happen.

"Be precise" said a not at all bothered Mo Jinsheng.

"Sir we are being blocked by a mob of gangsters. I'll go handle it" said the driver.

"Hmmm" replied Mo Jinsheng. He was very relaxed.

On cue, the mob lead by a tanned muscular man charged forward.

The driver started tackling them. He threw blows here and punches there. The fight was not intense but became increasingly long. Although, it appeared as if the outnumbered driver could have his way, he wasn't. The mob dressed like street thugs but they fought like trained mercenaries. The driver wasn't having a hard time but he wasn't winning either. The leader matched his pace at every exchange as if... It was premeditated. It was getting quite interesting. I felt the urge to test him out myself in order to confirm my speculations.

I turned to the man beside me, he was also turning towards me. With one look, I could tell that he planned doing the same.

"Mo Jinsheng, something is fishy" I spoke first

"Hmmm" was his only reply. His face knitted in a frown. He still looked cold and confident as if nothing could deter him in anyway.

"Let's come down and take look"

"Hmmm"

We stepped out together. Just for a moment, I wandered why he was not too worried. If Mo Jinsheng is not taking the fight too seriously, then the ruckus was not to be given much consideration or overplannned strategies. I will just take it as an exercise.

"Shouldn't we dock and hide?" I teased.

He didn't reply. He walked leisurely to the fight like an old man taking an evening walk.

I had the urge to laugh but I just shook my hand and joined him.

As children from wealthy families to whom kidnappings and blackmail was as natural as going to school. We were always well prepared for such things.

I pulled off my shoes, broke their heels and put them on. Thanks to luck, I was wearing wedges.

We joined the fight. I kicked the guy who was trying to hold unto me. He fly a few meters and bumped into another. They both fell flatly, unable to get up again.

I can't remember when or how, half way through the fight Mo Jinsheng and I were back to back trashing people.

"Not bad" he complimented

"Yea, right" I was smug

"Watch out" he extended his hand without facing me, grabbed my waist and switched us. Using the momentum, I kicked some asses.

"Mo Jinsheng, dock"

We flowed in sync as if we had practiced it before. It came naturally.

I didn't know that I had so much energy in me. I was trained for a while but my movements were like that if a professional. Did I practice more in the last two years.

I was so distracted thinking about my moves and Mo Jinsheng's that I didn't see the man with a knife approaching but I still tackled him instinctively. Mo Jinsheng hijacked the knife and flung it aside

In twenty minutes the mob had become a group of injured people. The leader, beaten but not so injured glared at the three of us.

The driver did the questioning

"Who send you?"

"..."

"Why did you do this?"

"...."

"Master, please retur

n to the car with the young madam" he bowed

Mo Jinsheng and I shared a look and decided to go back to the car

"Leave him. Let him go. He'll need to report back" I had my speculations about the whole thing.

The driver looked at his master awaiting further instructions.

"Do as she says"

The way the man looked at me was as if he had a grudge against me. If not for his master, he might have already snapped. I touched my nose, quite tempted to ask what he was thinking.

We went back into the car. The raid was blocked by the injured mob. Unable to stand back up, they had blocked out route.

Soon Mo Jinsheng's escort car had arrived.

"A'Li what happened? You were supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago"

A'Li came to the car in which we were.

"Master, please punish me" he was very humble and sincere.

"Tell me" Mo Jinsheng looked sideways

"An hour ago, I detected a strange movement from a vehicle behind us so I stalled in other to divert them somewhere else." He summarised the matter.

I knew it would not have been that simple since he was injured on his head and hand.

I had my suspicions about the matter of the assault. The people we fought with were too organised to be a mob.

"It's strange, right" I asked

"Somehow" he replied

"Mo Jinsheng, let's just go ahead since the matter has been solved."

"Hmmm" he acknowledged.

Throughout the rest of the ride. My mind kept flashing with all the moves I had made during the fight as well as the opponents.

They looked like a mob but fought like an organised machinery group. Their motive couldn't have been as simple as an assault.

It sounded even more fishy by the minute.

We were met with a crowd of people gathered Infront of the Mo Conglomerate.

An bad feeling crept up my heart at that moment.

Something big has happened!
