Today's New Year's Eve dinner is quite sumptuous.
A big table filled with meats, veggies, frozen fruits, and in the middle, a large bowl of dumplings.
The six of them from the two families are sitting in the living room gathered around the coffee table, the Spring Festival Gala playing on the TV, and the atmosphere is joyous and harmonious.
"The dumplings, there are several kinds of fillings. Celery pork, mushroom pork, egg pork, shrimp egg... these fillings are adjusted to our southern taste, without adding green onions or garlic. Actually, we can't really handle green onions or garlic, so even after living here for so long, our taste is still mostly southern."
Chen Huifen explained to everyone while holding a bowl, "But according to northern customs, there are a few dumplings stuffed with peanuts. According to tradition, they should be stuffed with coins, but coins are somewhat unsanitary, so I used peanuts instead. Eating the dumplings with peanuts foretells good luck!"
