'Ring, ring.'
The phone rang.
Ji Ying and Zhou He, chatting together as mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, exchanged a glance. Zhou He smiled and said, "It must be Nianhua calling home."
"Hello, Nianhua?" Ji Ying grabbed the phone in excitement, nervously asked, "How are you guys? Did you arrive in Ningbei? Did you register already?"
"Mom, have you been waiting for our call this whole time?"
Xu Nianhua guessed that Ji Ying must have been waiting for the phone call, but since the phone barely rang before being picked up, she figured her mom must have been sitting right next to it.
"I can't be at ease if you guys don't call back." Ji Ying's heart settled a lot the moment she heard her daughter's voice, and asked, "You're in Ningbei now, right? Are you at your own college or your second brother's? How's the campus? Did you bring enough money?"
Ji Ying fired off a string of questions at Xu Nianhua.
