Aunt Jin brought out the last bowl of soup from the kitchen, politely refusing to join them at the table.
Pei Yining didn't call her again, and quietly explained to Xu Nianhua, "Aunt Jin still needs to feed her mute daughter."
"Her mute daughter is Aunt Jin's eldest. When she was little, she had a fever, took the wrong medicine, and almost died. She barely survived in the end, but she can't talk, and her brain was damaged."
Pei Yining sighed, Aunt Jin truly has it hard, raising several kids all by herself. Because Xu Nianhua's mom helped Aunt Jin before, she now helps look after this house. No matter when they come, it's always especially clean here.
"Medical conditions back then really weren't very good," Xu Nianhua said, feeling emotional.
"Let's not talk about that. Hurry and try Aunt Jin's cooking. My grandpa and mom used to love it the most," Pei Yining warmly urged Xu Nianhua to eat.
