When the phone rang, Xia Lu was still in a dream. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and reached out to fumble around for a while before finally grabbing her phone. After checking the time, it was already 7:30. She wouldn't usually get up this early, especially as today was the weekend.
She turned her head, and the space beside her was empty; Zhou Mingchen was already gone.
"Oh, right!" She sat up suddenly, remembering what Grandma Zhou had said yesterday. In a little while, they would send a car to pick her up, and if she didn't hurry, she'd be late. With that thought, she swiftly got up from the bed, opened the door, and ran downstairs.
"Aunt Zhang, quick, get breakfast ready, I'm almost out of time," she shouted while running towards the dining room, her voice piercing the morning silence. No one answered, so she shouted again, "Aunt Zhang!"
"Why the rush so early in the morning?" As she entered, she heard a resonant female voice from beside her, and Xia Lu paused in surprise.
