On Monday morning, Hongli Group was holding its routine general meeting when suddenly a commotion from downstairs disturbed everyone.
Zhou Jingxian stood up and walked to the window to look outside, unaware of why a crowd had gathered at the entrance of the building, making a racket about something.
He halted the meeting and asked his assistant, "What's going on outside?"
"Someone has already gone down to investigate. It seems to be related to a previous demolition issue…" the assistant said softly, "The people below are all here to protest because they are dissatisfied with the demolition compensation."
"What demolition?" Zhou Jingxian asked.
"It's the old city renovation project that Director Zhang was in charge of. During the demolition of the old urban area, a group of residents was relocated to the suburbs, and most of those downstairs are from this group."
