In the darkness, Xia Lu lay with her eyes wide open, staring into the void before her. She didn't hear Zhou Mingchen's typically steady breathing beside her for a long time, the sign that he was asleep.
So, he can't sleep either, she thought.
She wondered what Ye Shaotang had said to him; she always felt the matter must be related to herself, yet knew she couldn't get the answer from him. It seemed there was little chance of getting an answer from Ye Shaotang either, as they must have reached an agreement.
If it wasn't something important, would he need to meet him late at night?
She turned her head and could barely make out Zhou Mingchen's silhouette—the curtains were just too good at blocking out the light.
"Zhou Mingchen, are you asleep?" Xia Lu asked quietly. No response. Left with no choice, she turned over and tried to sleep.
