Lunch was anything but comfortable, especially for Elsa who felt the scorching gazes of the two men on her. Unable to bear it any longer, she stood up and excused herself to the washroom, making it okay for the three people in the room to start a conversation. Marcus was the first to begin the conversation,
"Is that....", and before he could finish his sentence, Linda nodded in the affirmative.
"But how...she...she should be dead", Tony chimed in, visibly shocked as was Marcus.
"I can't explain everything right now, but what I know is that you guys can't tell anyone about this, for her safety.....and yours", Linda said with a grim expression. The men drew in a deep breath before nodding, acknowledging the words of Linda.
Behind the room's door, Linda stood, listening to the coversation that had ensued in her absence. She knew it. Something was wrong with the expression of those men, as was the expression of everyone who saw her after the 'accident'. Although now equipped with the knowledge that she might not be as simple as she thought, Elsa remained expressionless, something for which even she could not comprehend as to why. Adjusting her emotions, she made her way into the room, where the once chattering trio instantly went quiet upon seeing her. Elsa was able to compose herself through lunch and barely talked unless spoken to. They were done an hour later and after paying the bills, they all went their separate ways.
Elsa arrived at the manor after a long drive. Entering, she first took in the deadly silence before making her way towards Nick's office.
There are some things I must find out today.
Saying that, she proceeded to open the drawers in the office one by one, and when she got to the last drawer, she found a picture hidden inside a file. In the picture, Elsa was in what seemed to be a military uniform but was more unique. She was unsmiling and seemed to not want to take take the picture. Next to her were seven other people, five of which she knew. Linda, Nick, Joaquin, Marcus and Tony.
They were all dressed in the same uniforms as Elsa.
Seeing the image in her hands, the earlier calm and aloof Elsa staggered backwards until she hit the wall. Confusion, doubt, her mind was occupied with many thoughts and questions. The most predominant one...
Who am I?
