Chapter 61
Aaliyah
Gulping the whiskey down, I tried to calm my wolf, who was preparing to shift. The full moon shone high in the sky, casting its glow upon me. My wolf was restless, but I knew I couldn't shift here.
Leaving my room, I went to the gallery and found Tristan painting. He had already finished my artwork, and it looked beautiful. I was impressed.
"Tristan," I said, and he turned around. "I need to leave. It's a full moon. My wolf needs a release."
He studied me for a moment, setting the brush down. "You should be careful. There are vampires out there in the woods."
"I'm not a child, Tristan," I said. "My wolf is familiar with me now. She can protect me."
He nodded. "Just be careful."
"I know," I said, feeling the pressure clamp down on my chest. "I'll be back after the shift."
Tristan nodded, closing the distance between us. He raised his hand to touch my cheek. "Be back in time, Aaliyah. And be careful. I'd hate to feel that you're in danger."
