Chapter 8 - [APEX] 8: Team

Emil Blonsky was an elite soldier and a man with big ideas. In his opinion, a real man had to be huge and ferocious!

Just like the Hulk... getting stimulated made him bigger, and taking hits made him even bigger.

Blonsky deeply coveted the Hulk's power. The best way to worship something, he believed, was to study it… and then become it.

And that was exactly what he did.

"Just so we're clear, this serum is incomplete. If anything goes wrong…" a lanky scientist said cautiously.

"Enough! I know what I'm doing. If you keep stalling, I'll kill you!"

Blonsky snapped impatiently. "Inject me already. I want to be stronger than the Hulk!"

Mr. Blue secretly shook his head. Becoming stronger than the Hulk by injecting a serum derived from his blood? Listen to that nonsense. Such a thing was impossible.

Even hybrid experiments required generations of careful artificial selection.

But Blonsky didn't care. The soldier had already gone mad, and Mr. Blue was happy to oblige, pushing the serum into his veins.

As Dr. Banner's online contact, he had performed all kinds of experiments on Banner and kept samples of Hulk blood. Blonsky was the perfect test subject to verify his results.

"The Hulk is far more powerful than I anticipated. My intellect simply isn't enough to fully unlock the potential in his blood. This is going to be troublesome…"

Mr. Blue had his own concerns. He planned to flee and hide for a while as soon as the injection was complete.

"If you're still sane afterward, you can come find me. Maybe we'll have a chance to work together again."

He said it, but he didn't believe Blonsky would get another chance. The man simply couldn't handle the serum's power. At best, he would undergo a genetic mutation, get captured, and spend the rest of his life as a lab rat in some government prison.

ROOOAR!

Sure enough, Blonsky began transforming. His body swelled, smashing through the ceiling. His skin turned reptilian, and sharp bony spikes erupted along his spine.

"Power! This is real power!"

Blonsky was ecstatic, feeling an endless surge of strength flood through him. His face twisted with excitement.

Along with that power came an inseparable rage, blended with Blonsky's own thoughts, coalescing into a brand-new emotion... hatred.

He named his super-powered self the Abomination. It was both a way to reclaim the pride he had lost to the Hulk and a declaration that he would kill the Hulk to prove he was the strongest.

"Abomination, huh? I don't think you'll get the chance to take revenge on the Hulk. Because I'm here."

Several Xenomorphs smashed through the windows, moving with fluid grace. They darted across walls and floors, swiftly encircling the Abomination.

Mr. Blue jolted, tearing his gaze away from the Abomination to stare in shock at the unknown creatures.

As a biologist, he immediately understood these unheard-of beings were likely not natural lifeforms... at least not native to Earth. No earthly creature had an exoskeleton like that, nor did any look so… sci-fi.

In a single glance, Mr. Blue was utterly fascinated. His escape slowed as he studied them.

When one messenger Xenomorph crouched nearby, "staring" at him with its eyeless head, he couldn't leave at all. He pressed himself against the wall and edged sideways, trying to stay as far as possible from the rampaging Abomination.

"Ross sent you? How pathetic. He used to be my general, binding me with ridiculous rules. Now it's my turn to control him! I'm stronger than him!" The Abomination's mind was flooded with violent thoughts.

"You're stronger than him? Good. If I'm stronger than you, then taking everything from you is perfectly reasonable."

As Adam spoke, his eyes raked over the massive Abomination like knives.

Truthfully, the Abomination was ugly... far uglier than the Hulk... but Adam didn't mind.

"What the hell kind of look is that?"

"A look of appreciation. In my eyes, when you transform into this form, you're quite beautiful." Adam didn't hold back his praise and admiration.

The Abomination paused, deciding the little human was clearly insane. He lifted a massive foot and stomped down.

Beautiful? Ugly? He had already felt like his own mind was going crazy and hard to control. Now it seemed this stranger had lost it long ago.

A savage grin split his face, revealing rows of sharp teeth. The Abomination wanted to feel the satisfying squelch of meat paste under his sole.

BOOM!

He missed the man and only shattered the floor, leaving a deep crater.

"Can't even hit a person properly, and you think you can fight the Hulk?"

Adam retreated at superhuman speed and gave a signal. More Xenomorphs appeared from all sides, completely surrounding the Abomination before launching a coordinated assault.

The Xenomorphs, none taller than three meters, looked almost delicate compared to the four-meter-tall mountain of muscle that was the Abomination. But they had numbers on their side!

Eleven Xenomorphs attacked in waves. The strongest Blood Xenomorph led the charge, whipping its tail toward the Abomination's eyes.

"Ridiculous. You think these things can take me?"

The Abomination was seeing Xenomorphs for the first time, but he felt no fear. Laughing wildly, he reached out and grabbed one that was a fraction too slow. With a brutal smile, he crushed it between his hands.

Crunch!

Instead of a red spray, green fluid burst out.

Yes... Hulk green. But this green blood was terrifyingly corrosive. The moment it touched the Abomination's palm, he let out an earth-shaking scream!

Pain! It hurt so much!

Even the Abomination's skin, tough enough to withstand rocket explosions, couldn't resist blood that could instantly corrode super-alloys!

Hiss!

Skin burned away, flesh dissolved, exposing white bone. Worse, even the bones began to crack.

Thankfully, the Abomination possessed powerful regenerative abilities. With a furious roar, his wounds started healing at a visible rate.

But in that precious window, more Xenomorphs swarmed him.

Several messenger Xenomorphs rapidly climbed the walls, seizing opportunities to spray acid and leave large patches of damage across his body.

The Abomination roared continuously. Given his size, any Xenomorph he caught was lucky to lose only limbs. The Blood Xenomorphs fared slightly better thanks to their superior durability.

"What the hell are these things?!"

He killed three Xenomorphs, but the coordinated assault still left him extremely frustrated.

Their teamwork was excellent. Whenever he nearly grabbed one, the others would strike with perfect timing, forcing him to switch targets. Of course, he could ignore them... but only at the cost of taking more damage.

He seized another Xenomorph, but the price was steep. A Blood Xenomorph charged in, jaws opening to unleash its inner jaw.

The tongue-like inner mouth shot forward faster than a bullet. Its teeth clamped onto the Abomination's eye and yanked hard, spraying blood everywhere.

The Abomination howled in agony. The successful Blood Xenomorph tore into his flesh, rapidly restoring its own strength and injuries by drinking his blood.

"Now," Adam said from his safe position on the outer edge. He had been waiting for the right moment. "Facehugger time."

He had accepted Blade's private invitation and risked joining this operation for exactly this opportunity.
