Chapter 224: Shinji Matou – This Young Master Never Uses Superficial Units
As dawn approached, Milo Johnson, having just returned home, didn't go to bed. Instead, he turned on his computer.
He glanced at the notes he had jotted down in his notebook and organized his thoughts.
Soon, a review article in support of Heaven's Feel took shape rapidly.
"Heaven's Feel: A Perfect Ending"
This was the title Milo Johnson had chosen for his review of the final episode of Heaven's Feel, believing it would capture the attention of countless Fate fans.
After all, this was exactly what they wanted.
Even though he hadn't watched the full episode, Milo Johnson was no amateur. His years of professional experience allowed him to grasp the general direction of the series. With inspiration flowing, his fingers danced across the keyboard at an astonishing speed.
"Heaven's Feel is a truly unique series. Though not a film, each two-hour-long episode has made it one of the most anticipated and beloved works from last fall through this summer."*
"It may sound odd to put it this way, but the truth is that every month when a new Heaven's Feel episode was released, it became a celebration for moviegoers. Fans eagerly awaited each episode as if it were a full-fledged film."
"This time, I was invited to a special big-screen screening of Heaven's Feel, where I watched the entire series from the first episode to the last. It was an extraordinary experience."
"Throughout the screening, every fan in the theater cheered and celebrated Heaven's Feel with uncontainable excitement."
"As we all know, Heaven's Feel is not a cheerful story. Its dark and tragic themes don't make for an easy or pleasant viewing experience."
"So why was the audience so thrilled? The reason is simple—it's not just the conclusion of Heaven's Feel, but the end of Fate/Stay Night itself."
"And director Shinji Matou has delivered a truly satisfying answer."
"I originally thought Heaven's Feel would have a fairly standard and ordinary ending, but I was blown away by Shinji Matou's storytelling abilities."
"Creating a two-hour-long film isn't particularly difficult, but producing a twelve-hour series where every episode remains engaging requires immense skill."
"Fortunately, after watching the final episode of Heaven's Feel, I can say with confidence—Shinji Matou has pulled it off spectacularly! To a degree that's almost unbelievable!"
"The action sequences remain as thrilling as ever. Shinji Matou has imbued the series with his own signature style of violence—elegant yet intensely powerful."
"While it may not be as outrageously gory and explicit as some other R-rated series, it is still packed with forceful action and a sense of exhilarating chaos, more than deserving of its R-rating."
"It's clear that every battle between the heroic spirits was meticulously designed by Shinji Matou. These fight scenes don't just advance the plot—they are also visually stunning, keeping you glued to the screen for fear of missing a single breathtaking moment."
"Of course, as the final episode of a series, the most crucial part is the ending."
"I could hardly believe that Shinji Matou managed to give such a dark story a heartwarming conclusion. I even feared there might be a final twist, revealing that the warm, happy scene was merely a character's dream."
"Thankfully, Shinji Matou understood what the audience wanted to see, and he didn't pull off any infuriating tricks."
"Perhaps, in a way, the biggest twist was that there was no shocking twist at all."
"All in all, Heaven's Feel is an incredible series—authentic, compelling, and undeniably Shinji Matou."
After typing the final punctuation mark, Milo Johnson sent his review to the newspaper's editorial department and copied it to a contact at the public relations team under Time Group.
Soon, Milo Johnson received an email confirming that his review had been approved. Not only would it be published in the newspaper, but it would also be featured on the series' official website and IMDb.
Milo Johnson wasn't the only PR professional involved in Heaven's Feel's post-broadcast promotional push.
After all, this was the grand finale. Heaven's Feel had delivered a perfect ending in its story—so in reality, it needed a spectacular send-off as well.
If the series didn't showcase its economic value, then wouldn't all the effort over the past months have been for nothing?
That's why it wasn't just Time Group working hard—everyone from the production team to the main cast was stepping up to promote the show, trying to attract as much attention as possible.
The actors of Heaven's Feel had long been accustomed to filming promotional videos in Fuyuki City, so when Shinji suggested it, everyone was on board.
That said, only Arturia and Rider truly needed to participate in these promotional efforts.
As for the other main cast members from the final episode—Shirou, Rin, Illya, Sakura, and even Kotomine Kirei—they were all living, breathing people.
With such a golden opportunity, there was no way Shinji would let them stay put in Fuyuki City. Of course, they had to go out and make publicity appearances!
If it weren't absolutely necessary, who would want to limit promotional activities to just one location?
To maximize exposure, even Zouken Matou was included in various promotional efforts. Of course, the focus wasn't on the old man himself but on model replicas of his Crest Worms.
This was one of Shinji's more eccentric promotional stunts for the final episode, given that Zouken only appeared in his worm form this time.
Such bizarre marketing tactics were quite common in Japan—fans themselves often organized quirky events, like cosplay horse racing featuring Uma Musume characters.
What Shinji hadn't anticipated, though, was just how popular Worm Zouken (Zouken in his Crest Worm form) would become. Many fans clamored for Type-Moon to release official merchandise featuring the creepy critters.
Perhaps, like Alien, the bizarre and somewhat suggestive design of the Crest Worms had an uncanny "ugly-cute" appeal.
Regardless, Shinji himself had zero interest in buying any Crest Worm merchandise.
On a side note, the promotional interviews didn't sit well with Arturia and her Alter counterpart.
Arturia was frustrated because, while she had played Saber Alter in Heaven's Feel, that version of herself didn't reflect her true nature.
Alter, on the other hand, had an even simpler reason—despite it being her, she was portrayed by the person she despised most. What hotheaded warrior could tolerate that?
As a result, the two King of Knights erupted into a heated argument—right in Shinji's office—forcing him to renovate the place yet again.
"Congratulations, Shinji."
At Type-Moon headquarters, Cloris grinned as she congratulated him.
"The final episode of Heaven's Feel was a massive success. You must've made a fortune."
"Yeah, congrats my ass."
Shinji grumbled as he ruffled his hair in frustration.
"No matter how much I make, I can't seem to hold onto it. See? I just got forced into renovating my office. Again."
Cloris shrugged after hearing Shinji's complaint.
"Well, if you really want to know about your financial luck, you might have to ask Gaia."
Shinji's financial situation was nothing short of bizarre—one of the seven great mysteries in the industry.
If you said he had bad luck with money, then how come every idea he casually came up with made tons of cash? The guy never lacked spending money.
But if you said he had good financial luck, then why did he always end up mysteriously spending it all, never saving a single cent?
"I even went and burned some incense for Archer the other day, but it was useless." Shinji grumbled, his expression sour.
"You'll get used to it."
Cloris patted Shinji's shoulder with a smirk.
"My doors are always open for you."
"Lissy, why does that sound like you're trying to ride me?"
Smack!
Shinji's head got a light slap.
After living with him for a year, Cloris obviously knew exactly what riding meant.
"Can't you talk about something more positive?" Cloris sighed.
"Like Heaven's Feel's success, or the project you're filming? You know, something a little healthier."
Shinji's face was full of amusement.
"You know Heaven's Feel's numbers better than I do. Why would I need to say anything?"
"As for my current project, your company's money has already come through. What else is there to talk about? The film just started shooting."
He leaned back with a smirk.
"Besides, money alone doesn't interest me anymore."
Shinji deliberately struck a "I have no worldly desires" pose and said calmly,
"I can't save it anyway. In the end, money is just a numbers game."
Cloris let out a cold chuckle.
"Oh, so that's why you're putting all your energy into what's between your legs?"
"Rin was right—you really should cut back on all this unhealthy stuff."
Then, in a barely audible mutter, she added,
"Or, you could just come to me instead..."
Shinji either didn't hear her or pretended not to. Instead, he waved his finger around and declared smugly,
"Lissy, that's not how you should look at it. The survival of humanity depends on what you call 'unhealthy things.'"
"Besides, I don't think my requests are that unreasonable."
He slammed his hand on the desk, venting his frustration.
"Since coming back to Japan, I haven't even had a single fling!"
"Marriage is out of the question, but at least give me a thrilling one-night stand or a wild encounter! I'm a simple guy—I just want transactions, not emotions!"
Cloris' fist clenched for a moment, then slowly relaxed.
"Do you really think this is the right conversation to have with me?" she said, crossing her arms with a cold huff.
"Or are you just saying this to mess with me on purpose?"
"Didn't you have enough fun back at the Clock Tower? I heard they even gave you the nickname 'Hundred Slayer.'"
Shinji scoffed in disdain.
"What a dumb nickname. Do I look like someone who can be measured by something as shallow as hundreds?"
Cloris rolled her eyes.
"Oh? Then what kind of nickname do you want? 'Thousand Slayer'?"
"That sounds way too much like 'Thousand Years of Death.' I have no interest in settling scores with my, uh… rear."
"Then what do you want to be called?"
"Hmm… At the very least, it should start at 'King of Ten Thousand Women,' don't you think?"
THUD! CRASH!
That was the sound of Shinji getting wrecked and crashing onto the floor.
