Chapter 390 - Chapter 390: Visitors Arrive One After Another

Chapter 390: Visitors Arrive One After Another

Nighttime.

In a personal office decorated in a simple, refreshing style, Sigurd leisurely flipped through a few work documents, quietly counting down the time until he could rest.

No matter the task, one had to maintain a proper balance between tension and relaxation.

At least during this period, Sigurd didn't want to let himself get too busy.

"Staaare—"

Just as he finished turning over a proposal, Sigurd lifted his eyes toward the door.

The vintage white-lacquered door had been pushed open just a crack. Through the thin slit, a pair of cool, expressionless eyes stared straight at him, unblinking.

"Come in."

Sigurd tapped his finger to open the next document, speaking casually.

Bronya pushed the door open and entered.

She wore a slightly translucent, loose short-sleeved sleep shirt, faintly revealing her overly fair skin. Below the very short hem of the nightdress was a pair of bare, delicate, snow-white legs.

Hugging a Herrscher Homu pillow, she walked straight toward Sigurd without a change in expression, stopping in front of him as they faced each other across the desk.

"Alright… what is it?"

"Bronya wanted to check if Sigurd was upset. After all, the invitations to the Flame-Chasers didn't seem to go well."

Holding the pillow with both arms, Bronya tilted her small head ever so slightly.

Her exquisitely beautiful face carried a dazed, almost blank expression—yet somehow, that only made her appear even more obedient and endearing.

Sigurd couldn't help but smile.

"You're thoughtful. But don't worry about that. Except for Dr. Mobius, whose value is particularly high, the other Flame-Chasers were always more of a pleasant bonus. Whether they accept or not doesn't have much impact."

"Bronya feels they're all very strong… but if Sigurd says so, then I won't worry."

As she spoke, Bronya naturally walked around to Sigurd's side, then sat down on his lap and leaned back into his chest.

A faint, elegant fragrance brushed past his nose.

Sigurd lowered his head, lifted a few strands of her silvery-gray hair, and toyed with them. The soft, silky feel was hard to let go.

She was always like this—always knowing exactly how to show off her charm to him.

Sigurd chuckled quietly to himself.

"How did things go with Eden?"

"Bronya thinks it went well. The Sigil gave me some improvements. I also received a lot of information about the previous era from Eden… But I'm slowly moving away from frontline combat roles, so maybe my gains aren't as big as everyone else's."

"That's fine. Your outstanding talent should be used where it's most valuable."

"For example… inside Sigurd's bed?"

Bronya lifted her head, her crystal-clear eyes sparkling like flawless gemstones—bright, pure, and breathtaking.

Then Sigurd lightly pinched her cheek.

"You really seize every opportunity, don't you? Never forgetting to add something indecent."

"That is what makes Bronya—Bronya!"

"I wasn't praising you. Why do you look so proud?"

"Sigurd, Bronya grew a little taller again recently!"

Bronya abruptly changed the topic.

But despite mentioning that she'd grown, her expression showed no joy at all.

If anything, she seemed troubled—worried.

Sigurd stroked her hair.

"Isn't that a good thing? What's there to worry about?"

"But if this keeps up, Bronya's body will change every few days, entering different stages of growth. If Sigurd doesn't hurry… what if you miss the chance to enjoy the phase you like the most?"

"..."

Sigurd stayed silent for over a full minute.

Then—Bronya suddenly found herself laid sideways across his lap.

Smack. Smack. Smack!

"'Change,' huh? 'Miss the chance,' huh? 'Enjoy the phase,' huh? You mischievous little troublemaker!"

Sigurd smacked Bronya's backside as he lectured her with a flat expression.

However, Bronya's face only grew redder and redder.

It was embarrassing to admit, but… a slightly violent Sigurd like this—

She liked it.

Very much.

Her heart pounding, her whole body turning soft.

But that delicate atmosphere shattered instantly when pounding knocks and a familiar shout erupted from the door.

Bang! Bang!

"Sig I'm coming in!"

Kiana burst through the door, wearing a cute pink nightdress with a soft, enticing style. Her fair cheeks glowed with a rosy flush, framed by a bright, energetic smile.

Bronya dove under Sigurd's desk.

Kiana came too suddenly, and what Bronya had been doing a second ago was absolutely not something she wanted anyone to see. She didn't even think—she just reacted.

And now things were even more embarrassing.

Because she couldn't come out.

If she hadn't hidden in the first place, everything might've been easy to explain.

But crawling out from under Sigurd's desk now?

What would Kiana think!?

Bronya also had dignity!

From the floor, Bronya looked up weakly at Sigurd, her eyes shimmering like a pitiful kitten.

Sigurd raised a brow and showed an amused smile.

Bronya shivered, clinging to Sigurd's leg as she rubbed her cheek against it in a pleading gesture.

Sniff, sniff…

"Hm? I think I smell Bronya."

"She was just here."

"What?! That little fox, coming to ambush you again!?"

"Aren't you here too?"

Sigurd calmly placed a hand under the desk, rubbing Bronya's head, then looked at Kiana as if everything were perfectly normal.

Kiana put her hands on her hips, puffing her cheeks in indignation.

"Hmph! I'm different! I came because today didn't go smoothly and I was worried Sig might be upset!"

"She came for the same reason."

"Uh… then she must've copied me! Trying to get ahead of me and win favor with Sig first!"

"Weren't you doing the same thing?"

"Of course not! I'm only here out of pure concern for Sig! You have to believe me, Sig!"

Kiana nodded sincerely, emphasizing her noble intentions while openly dragging Bronya through the mud—though her attempt was so clumsy it almost hurt to watch.

Sigurd chuckled softly, glanced down at Bronya's pleading gaze, then leaned forward and beckoned to Kiana.

"Come here."

"Eh? What for— mmph!?"

Kiana leaned over the desk—and Sigurd caught her chin and kissed her.

Her eyes widened adorably in shock, like a startled cat.

Then her cheeks flushed bright red, and she slowly, shyly melted into Sigurd's kiss.

Knock, knock

"Sigurd, your door seems to be open. I'm coming in."

Fu Hua's gentle voice drifted in as the door—left ajar by Kiana—slowly swung open.

Standing there, in a simple teal top and loose home-wear trousers, was Fu Hua, graceful and serene in her relaxed nighttime attire.

At that moment, beneath Sigurd's desk…

Two pairs of wide, stunned, utterly dumbfounded eyes met each other in the dark.
