Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Reluctant Heir

Reylan Solaron reclined lazily in the opulent study of the Solaron Estate. The room was a shrine to wealth and tradition, with walls lined with priceless artwork and shelves filled with antique tomes. Rich mahogany furniture gleamed under soft lighting, but Reylan's attention was fixed on the holographic gaming console hovering in front of him. The expansive window offered a view of meticulously manicured gardens, but he was more interested in his game.

Dressed in designer loungewear, he tapped at the console with a bored expression, surrounded by discarded snack wrappers.

The butler entered with a practiced grace. "Young Master Reylan, it's already past noon. Your father has a board meeting today, and he expected you to attend."

Reylan barely looked up, stifling a yawn. "Pass. Business meetings are dull. I'm not interested in sitting around a table listening to old men drone on about profit margins and stock shares."

The butler sighed, his voice tinged with both concern and resignation. "Sir, you are the future head of the Solaron family. Perhaps it's time to—"

Reylan cut him off with a dismissive wave. "Enough. Just tell him I'm busy. He'll manage without me like he always does."

The butler hesitated, his expression tightening with unspoken thoughts, but eventually left the room. Reylan returned to his game, but his mind wandered.

---

Hours later, Reylan found himself drifting into the estate's grand library, driven by boredom. Though he had little interest in the dusty volumes or the estate's legacy, something about this room always felt different. Whispers of old rumors lingered—talk of secrets hidden by his ancestors within these walls. He had never paid much attention to such tales, but curiosity tugged at him now.

His idle exploration led him to an inconspicuous corner, where he discovered a hidden chest behind a bookcase. Inside, nestled in velvet, lay an ancient, intricately carved tablet.

"Huh, what's this doing here?" he muttered, more intrigued by its potential value than its history. "Probably some old relic. Might fetch a few million credits if I auction it."

As his fingers brushed the tablet's surface, it suddenly lit up. Golden light flooded the room, and a cold, mechanical voice echoed in his mind.

System Voice: "Initializing Sovereign Ascension System... Welcome, Heir of the Solaron Lineage."

Reylan yelped, dropping the tablet as if it had burned him. "What the—?! Who's talking?!"

System Voice: You have been chosen to inherit the Sovereign Ascension System. Current Status: Unworthy.

Objective: Ascend to power or face eradication.

Reylan's heart raced. "Eradication? Hey, this isn't funny!"

A holographic interface materialized before him, displaying his stats.

Stats:Level 1. No Skills. No Influence.

System Voice: [First Quest:] Prove Your Worth. Manage the Shadow Venture Firm and increase its net worth by 100% within 30 days. Failure: Deprivation of all inherited assets.

For the first time in his pampered life, fear clawed at Reylan. The comfortable, luxurious world he knew was suddenly on the line. But before panic could fully settle, a secondary screen flashed with potential rewards: Powerful Artifact, Unique Skills, and Total Control over an underground syndicate.

Reylan's anxiety gave way to a flicker of greed and ambition. "Wait… This system is real? And those rewards… Control over a whole syndicate? I could run things my way…"

As the timer began counting down, reality set in. The system's demands were harsh, but the possibilities were endless. It was a lifeline—one that could either elevate him or strip away everything he had ever known.

Determined not to lose, and intrigued by the allure of power, Reylan made up his mind. He'd take on the challenge—albeit reluctantly.

A smirk played on his lips. "Well, if I'm going to do this, I might as well do it big. Let's see what this system can really do."

The pampered heir had just taken his first step into a world of high stakes, danger, and cutthroat ambition. Little did he know, this path would forge him into someone far beyond what he ever imagined—whether for better or worse.
