"Do you have any idea what your brother's boss is doing with my sister?" Leo's voice broke through the stillness of the room as he passed me a paintbrush.
Taking the brush from him, I turned my attention to the blank canvas in front of me. "I don't know," I said evenly, rolling the smooth wood of the brush between my fingers. "And, to be honest, I don't care enough to find out." My focus wasn't on Leo's sister or her entanglement with Miles Williams. Instead, my focus is on the odd relationship between Miles and Renee. There was something about it—something I couldn't quite put my finger on. "But if you're asking whether I want him with her, then no. No, I don't. You want him with her?"
Leo sat across from me, leaning back in his chair, his sharp gaze, as if trying to assess whether I'd lost my mind. "Of course, I don't want her with him," he said with a faint edge of incredulity. "My parents hate his guts, and they've made sure to pass that hatred down to us."
