Chapter 6 - 4 Years Later

Ren finally being properly fluent in the local language of Viros becoming more and more adept at it as the years go by impressing the thatcher family as much as shock them. More and more of the lounging area becomes littered with books old and new caused by Ren's hunger for more.

"Come on, these tiny legs are always holding me back! But not today dammit, I'm completing my damn training regiment today. I finally have more control over this body so a little exhaustion won't stop me here." Ren screams out fighting against his body pleading for him to rest.

Forcing his tiny pale feet to continue on through the rugged terrain, calluses begin to form from the rough beating of roots and stones logging themselves in the souls of his feet. His new red hair drenched in sweat as it hangs low down his shoulders.

"Don't you dare think of stopping now, I need you to be in tip top shape for the coming years. Now is the best time for development." Ren continues to force his legs through the rough terrain despite their arguments.

Urging his exhausted muscles to keep moving despite the intense surge of lactic acid trying to slow him down. Finally he manages to get his bloody feet to the finish line he had prepared beforehand.

"Nice, I finally managed to complete the whole track in one go. My endurance is getting better and better by the day." Ren lets out a deep breath taking in the endorphins and satisfaction of his accomplishment.

Letting his body fall to the grass his bright scarlett hair spreads out across the greenery caked in sweat and twigs as he begins to catch his breath. Not too long after does she begin to hear the voice of Misty call for him through the dense brush. Picking his exhausted body back up he hauls himself back to the main inn.

"Ren what are you doing out in the forest you know you can't be out there alone." Misty calls out seeing Ren skulk his way back to the inn covered head to toe in brambles and other shrubbery littered all over his body.

"I know, I was just playing. I wasn't too far, just near the stream." Ren says innocently, desperately relying on the benefit of the doubt and being a child.

"Okay im just making sure i can't risk you getting lost in this dense forest so make sure you don't stray far from the inn." Misty calls out making sure Ren is taking what she is saying seriously.

"Yes mother I will." Ren calls out making sure to stay within earshot of the inn.

"Thank you Ren." Misty calls back out one last time before getting back to cooking for the day.

'I need to continue my training and I can't let any second go to waste. I have to be prepared for when the days come now that I can properl;y move this body. I don't want to waste any days.' Ren says curling his tiny petite fingers into a balled fist.

'What is this overload of text? It's in Secri too. I can understand it so easily. Could this be the thing I saw in the phoenix's domain.' Ren questions in his mind seeing hte bombardment of text continue for the first time since the beginning of his reincarnation.

'Looks like I just got my hands full, won't be able to slack on training anymore even if I'm young. Well it's not like I was going to waste time. Odd though I can put my hand right through this text, is it just in my vision?' Ren remarks seeing his hand go right through the text without any resistance.

"What are you up to dork? You're drenched in sweat, you reek girl, what have you been doing out here?" Lydia questions as she slings her bow on her back with her quiver full of used arrows.

"Just playing in the forest, you know nothing major, I managed to climb a couple trees too." Ren says trying to cover his tracks efficiently behind his youthful innocence.

"Okay as long as you're not getting into any mischief out here. I'm glad you're having fun though Ren." Lydia chuckles as she makes her way into the entrance of the inn. Still exhausted from the days hunt and the game on slung over her back

"Mom, I'm back from hunting. The other archers donated some of their catches to the inn. We should be eating well tonight." Lydia yells out through the inn as she takes her shoes off and hangs up her quiver.

Immediately Ren's ears perk up in complete awe hearing the familiar hope inspiring word confirming it by the sight on Lydia's back, Archery. Unlocking a deep part of his being with just one word, his feet are already leaping towards the inn to Misty. Practically launching off of the grass.

"Mom mom i want to be an archer!" Ren roars out in complete unswayable determination exploding through the entrance of the inn in his utter excitement.

"What? Over just hearing me say I was out hunting, that's all it took!?" Lydia asks befuddled over the sudden intrigue thrown off by the massive sudden uproar.

"I don't see the reason why not but what got you so interested in archery do you even know what it is?" Misty questions now lowering the heat on the stove to pay attention to her children.

'Curse this child's body at times I swear everyone underestimates your intelligence. But I need to be able to get into Archery now. If I can train my motor skills now I'll be better off in the coming years.' Ren's thoughts barrage him with irritation at being so close yet so far from being able to grasp a bow again.

"I know what archery is, it's the skill of using a bow and arrow and I would like to learn it please." Ren continues, still determined as ever, to wield his old friend once more.

"Surprising you're so knowledgeable about such a thing did you end up discovering it through your late night's reading." Misty replies in a bewildered confusion seeing how much Ren knows at her age.

"You could say that mom, I've had an interest in it ever since." Ren says hamming up his reasoning as much as he possibly can.

"Okay sure you can go and spectate with Lydia when she goes hunting with the archers next. Is that alright?" Misty finally relents, giving Ren what she wants not thinking it will cause much harm.

"Can I have my own bow too!?" Ren exclaims hoping and praying to be able to hear the magical words yes.

"Well I don't want you shooting your eye out so we will see if you stick to the lessons with Lydia. I'll consider it." Misty says not being too lenient with Ren to ensure her safety

"It's incredibly hard to shoot your eye out with an arrow, mother only a moron aiming it backwards at their face would be able to manage such an incredible feat." Ren explains in a dry bitter tone.

"Alright alright looks like you devoured more books then I thought Ms silvertongue." Misty responds a little stunlocked by the wealth of Knowledge Ren has acquired in such a short time.

"When is Lydia going hunting next mom? I want to go as soon as possible!?" Ren roars out wanting to know immediately not taking no for an answer when it comes to his life blood the bow.

"I don't know, ask her yourself, you know i'm cooking." Misty barks back as she tries not to burn food under the barrage of questions.

"Lydia, when do you go hunting next!?" Ren asks again, more impatient and excited then the first.

"In a couple days, why are you planning on joining me for it already?" Lydia asks a bit shocked at how fast the turn of events had happened thinking it was more of a passing fad for Ren.

"Yes i want to be there for it as soon as possible so don't you dare leave me behind or i won't forgive you." Ren says playing into their child-like status now sticking their tongue out to emphasise their point.

"Fine fine i promise i'll take you with me for the last hunt geez i really didn't think you would die on this hill." Lydia sighs out brushing her dirty blond hair out of her face.
