I stared at the destruction. The screams had finally stopped, and I could feel myself calming down. The chord was utterly destroyed, the surrounding trees uprooted. The destructive power of the magic had been devastating.
I stood there in a daze, the scene replaying in my mind along with everything that had led to this moment. It was then that I realized how quiet Julie was.
I looked over and saw her lying on the ground, her breathing shallow and her skin pale. It was clear she was in bad shape after casting that spell.
"Julie! Julie!" I shouted, trying desperately to wake her.
Nothing worked. She was still breathing, which was a good sign, but no matter how much I shook her or yelled in her ear, she wouldn't wake up.
Despair washed over me. For a moment, I thought she was going to die. But then, after what felt like an eternity, she finally stirred. Julie's eyes fluttered open, and she looked at me with a weak smile. "I'm fine," she whispered. "I'm fine."
