Chapter 2 - Sister

Four Years Later

I opened my tired eyes and found myself lying in my bed. Sitting up in confusion, I muttered to myself.

Viktor: "Strange... I could have sworn I fell asleep in the library. Guess I overdid it last night."

With a shrug, I lay back down, letting my thoughts settle.

Four years ago, I was born into this world as a vampire. My name is Viktor Sebastian Kernes, and despite my young age, I've already learned a good deal about this place.

To start with:

There are two types of vampires: Plebeian Vampires and Noble Vampires.

Plebeian Vampires are your typical fantasy vampires—burning in sunlight, weak against holy objects, far stronger than humans, but prone to losing control of themselves when they're hungry. They can't fly, either. Noble Vampires, on the other hand, are vastly superior, boasting abilities like flight, sun resistance, and exceptional bodily control. Some nobles are even born with extraordinary traits, such as the strength of an ogre, the wings of another creature, or even a rare kind of immortality—though such instances are incredibly rare.

Though I'm a Noble Vampire by birth, my full powers won't manifest until I turn seven, which means I'm currently just a notch above a plebeian. And honestly, four years feels like a long wait when I intend to live life to the fullest this time.

Knock Knock

???: Viktor! May I come in?

Viktor: Yeah.

The wooden door creaked open as a girl entered my room. She stood about 5'3", slender, with long blonde hair and striking dark crimson eyes.

This is my older sister in this world.

Elizabeth: "I'm surprised you're awake! You were up so late last night that Dad had to carry you to your room. You really need to take better care of yourself, you know!"

Viktor: "Yeah, yeah... It's not like you can talk, Miss 'Sleepless.' But she's right—in this body, I'm just four. I shouldn't push myself too hard." Sighs "Yeah, I know."

Elizabeth: "Good. Anyway, I came to let you know that breakfast is ready. Once you're changed, come down to the dining room."

Viktor: "Alright."

Elizabeth: Pausing at the door "I'll be heading out then."

Viktor: "Elizabeth!"

Elizabeth: "Yes?"

Viktor: "Thanks for looking out for me. I'll be more careful from now on." I flash her a broad smile.

Elizabeth: Returning the smile "No biggie—that's what older sisters are for."

And with that, she headed out, leaving me to prepare for the day ahead.
