The witch's resentful whisper made the goosebumps on Aoko's body stand up.
Having lived under the same roof for two years, Aoko naturally understood Alice's possessiveness.
'Damn it, my best friend thinks I stole her man. What should I do?' Aoko looked at the black-aura-emitting Alice before her, and her once-rosy, pretty face instantly turned deathly pale.
She really didn't intend to steal her man. With her freedom-loving personality, she was a staunch non-believer in marriage.
But the rampaging witch before her probably wouldn't believe her. The thought of being hunted down by the rampaging witch with her three great secret treasures made Aoko immediately chicken out.
Aoko's eyes widened slightly, and she looked directly at Alice's face, showing her sincerity. "Alice, I was just trying to increase our chances of winning. Besides, you know how much I owe that guy. Right, it was Haru who suggested this."
Aoko unhesitatingly threw the black pot onto Haru's head. Who told him to keep asking her to sell her body to pay off her debt? Who else would take the blame?
"Increase our chances of winning—?!" Alice raised an eyebrow, her face softening a little. While she rationally understood that Aoko's method of increasing their chances of winning was effective, she couldn't forgive this kind of behavior emotionally.
Though witch-type mages seemed to be cold, rational animals, from the fact that Alice's mother had fallen madly in love with a normal person, it was clear that they were completely dominated by their emotions.
If it had been an outsider, it would have been fine. She could have just found a chance to make the homewrecker disappear. But it was her best friend, Aoko, who had done the deed.
The saying 'the closer the relationship, the greater the resentment' was no joke.
"...You could have refused this proposal," Alice said in a low whisper.
Aoko's face instantly stiffened. She looked at Alice with disbelief, as if seeing her for the first time.
'Who said that a magus's interests come first? Who said that they always look out for their own? To win and keep the right to manage the ley line, I had to play with your boyfriend once. And you're still holding a grudge and trying to settle the score. How does that fit the principle of interests first!!!'
However, Aoko could only grumble in her heart. If she were to say it out loud, she was willing to bet that the witch-brand powder keg before her would definitely explode.
Alice silently took out a Banquet of the Night from her shawl. Aoko, seeing this magical tool, her face instantly turned green. She quickly grabbed the young woman's small, black-gloved hand.
"...Let go!" Alice said, her face cold, her voice frosty.
"I won't!!!!" Aoko said, her face ashen. She held onto Alice's arm for dear life, refusing to let go.
"Survive this night, and I'll let you go," Alice said, her tone flat.
The next second, her dark left eye instantly turned into a ruby pupil. The witch looked at Aoko with her Mystic Eyes.
Sizzle—! Sizzle—! Sizzle—!
The gaze of the Mystic Eyes was like pulling a trigger. An invisible magical power formed into several pale purple railings, which pierced through Aoko's body, pinning her four limbs, and firmly sealing her movements.
The next second, Alice impassively threw out the Banquet of the Night. The ice-blue glass product shattered the moment it hit the snow.
The ground seemed to have turned into a water surface, and large ripples spread out. In the center of the ripples, a series of knives and forks, commonly used in Western cuisine, slowly extended.
Looking at the person-sized knives and forks aimed at her entire body, Aoko swallowed hard, her face panicked as she roared, "You don't intend to let me live through the night, do you?!!!"
Alice ignored Aoko's roar and just impassively lifted her hand and gently waved. The knives and forks, like bullets, shot towards Aoko.
Aoko's face changed drastically. The Magic Crest on her right arm instantly glowed brightly. Relying on her remaining magical power, Aoko forcibly nullified the Mystic Eyes' seal and, with a carp-like roll, she dodged the knives and forks that were stabbing straight at her.
"Damn it, I don't have enough mana. I can't fight at all!!!" Aoko quickly got up and, in a zigzag pattern, she ran, her face a mask of misery as she roared.
"By the way, why are we fighting over that guy!!!" Aoko said, dodging the knives and forks one by one, a look of frustration on her face.
"It's not just because of Haru-kun. Last time you went to eat conveyor belt sushi, you brought me a bento box, and you made me wait for three hours," Alice said in a low whisper.
The slightly shy witch would never admit the truth. Anyway, Aoko had done too many bad things. She could just find a random one to use as an excuse.
Aoko froze for a moment, and was almost skewered by a fork. At the last moment, she dodged the attack, and her face darkened as she roared, "It's been half a year, and you're still holding a grudge!!!"
"Can't I?" Alice tilted her head and said blankly.
With her words, dozens of knives and forks flew straight at Aoko.
"There's a limit to being petty!!!" Aoko's face was deathly pale, and she used her hands and feet to run in the snow.

"Oh my..."
Touko, who was standing on the side, her lips curved into a faint smile. She was watching the catfight with great interest. She had chosen neither to run nor to fight to the death. She had no self-awareness as a 'loser' at all.
The reason, Touko glanced at Beo's 'corpse.' The golden wolf's chest suddenly trembled and slowly began to rise and fall.
Touko smacked her lips. Feeling a craving for a cigarette, she once again took out a cigarette case and pulled out a cigarette.
"To start infighting without confirming the enemy is completely dead... the two brats still have a lot to learn," Touko said, silently lighting the cigarette in her mouth.
Beo, who was lying on the ground, suddenly opened its emerald green wolf eyes and scrambled to its wolfish body. The muscles all over its body suddenly bulged.
Its hind limbs suddenly exerted force, and it stood up on its wolfish body. It opened its wolfish mouth, and the great source of magical power in the atmosphere was continuously sucked into its body, causing a whistling wind.
"Awoooo—!"
With a wolf's howl, a giant werewolf with a huge wolf's head stood in the snow. The loud howl even caused a shockwave.
The vibration of the atmosphere caused by the shockwave sent the arguing Aoko and Alice flying a meter, and with a thud, they fell to the ground.
"Hey, hey, you've got to be kidding me. It can revive?!!" Aoko, who had been thrown into a dizzy spell, suppressed the ringing in her ears and quickly struggled to her feet. She looked at the three-meter-tall giant werewolf with a bewildered expression.
"Careless," Alice frowned, looking at the 'revived' werewolf with annoyance. She was annoyed with herself for letting her guard down due to her personal emotions.
Looking at Alice, who had no guilt at all for trying to kill her best friend, Aoko's lip twitched. "Now we really have to fight for our lives."
Aoko took out a bottle of mana potion and, suppressing the discomfort in her heart, she drank it. She had already thrown caution to the wind. Anyway, she had already 'eaten' it below. It didn't matter if she ate it above.
Beo, who had transformed into a giant werewolf, twisted its neck and, with a ferocious wolfish grin, said teasingly, "Big sister didn't take the opportunity to destroy me. But Beo really wants to tear big sister apart."
Thwack—! Thwack—!
Beo felt its back being patted twice.
