It was an unripe green apple, its skin smooth and glossy, radiating a youthful vibrancy.
But, perhaps because it was the first time, Haru's first bite was not sweet. With a little force, the youthful, beautiful face would contort slightly...
Fortunately, the green apple endured and launched a retaliatory strike.
Blue eyes, welling with tears, a neat row of teeth marks on Haru's shoulder, and on his back, a series of curved scratches, like those of a cat's claws, left by her not-so-sharp nails.
The bruised, unripe fruit used its natural means to retaliate against the one who was tasting her. Gradually, the fruit, its skin pierced, adapted to its new state, revealing the abundant juices within. The tight, moist sensation was exceptionally comforting to Haru.
And then, the unripe fruit began to gush, a soft, melodious moan, a beautiful song in his ear, with a low hum, and as it reached a crescendo, a series of high-pitched cries.
————
"Hah..."
Haru's breathing was a little heavy. He looked out the window at the orange sun, half-hidden by the mountains, and lay back on the pillow with a lazy expression.
Though his expression suggested he was a little exhausted, that was just on the surface. How could a body that could go toe-to-toe with the 'moon' be defeated by a mere seven hours of exercise? The taste still lingering, Haru began to stir.
"...Anymore and I'll really die."
A pair of slender arms slowly lifted before him and, with a soft slap, a hand landed on his face. But the force was so gentle, it was less of a slap and more of a caress.
Haru looked down at the Aoko lying on his chest, her body drenched in a fragrant sweat, her wheat-colored skin tinged with a faint pink. His lips curved upwards.
"...Just a little exhausted. You're not going to die."
In fact, if not for Haru secretly using his Law of Matter to replenish the large amount of water and salt the young woman in his arms was losing, Aoko might have really been 'held' to death.
Even though it had already happened, Haru was still a little dazed. The two of them, who had been having a pillow fight, how had it developed into this? He had been living a good life recently. He wasn't that desperate.
Suddenly, Haru raised an eyebrow. He looked at the beauty in his arms, at her flushed face, and his lip twitched. Speaking of which, it was Aoko who had been clinging to him, right? That almost hysterical, crazed look... it was a little strange.
"Did... I... not... die of dehydration? It seems my life is quite tenacious," Aoko, her brow slightly furrowed, said, her voice weak. She was truly out of strength. Even the simple act of lifting her hand was a painful ordeal for her now.
"You knew you would die of dehydration, and you still clung to me?" Haru pinched her small, delicate nose and said with a teasing tone.
"Who knows? It just happened naturally," Aoko said, her eyes closed, her eyelashes fluttering. Her clear, melodious voice, though a little weak, held a 'crazy' demonic charm.
Though she was a straightforward, clumsy, impulsive girl, she now exuded a witch-like charm.
Hearing this, Haru looked at the exhausted Aoko with a look of understanding. Was it a release of pent-up negative emotions?
"Have you vented all your grievances?" Haru caressed her smooth back, his palm gradually becoming damp with the sweat on her back, and said with a look of pity.
"Eh?" Aoko's eyes snapped open, a dazed look on her face. The next second, she fell silent.
After a full ten minutes of silence, Aoko closed her eyes again and said lazily, "I feel... a lot more relaxed."
"Then again..." Haru moved tentatively.
"Eek!!"
Aoko's eyes snapped open, and with a look of three parts shyness and seven parts displeasure, she complained, "Get lost, get lost! I want to sleep! You beast, you almost worked me to death!"
With that, Aoko petulantly closed her eyes. It seemed that she was too tired. In just a few seconds, a soft, gentle breathing sound came from her nose.
Haru silently stared at the Aoko in his arms, his lips curving into a faint smile. He slowly closed his eyes.
He opened them again four hours later. Feeling the weight on him disappear, he reluctantly opened his deep gray pupils.
Aoko Aozaki, her brow furrowed, was clutching her lower abdomen, as if thinking about something, her expression exceptionally grave, muttering from time to time, 'I feel like I can,' 'Should I try it or not?'
"What's wrong?" Haru asked, a little puzzled.
The sudden voice made Aoko startle. She stumbled back, bumping into the wardrobe, a look of fright on her face.
When she realized it was Haru's voice, a fierce expression appeared on her face. She walked up, lifted her long legs, and began to kick him. "Are you trying to scare me to death!!!!!"
"...You don't have to be so quick to kill the donkey after it's done its job, do you? Did I find a black widow?" Haru looked at the Aoko who was kicking his stomach with a speechless expression.
"Who's your black widow? I've already given you the body you wanted. We're even now!!!"
Hearing the description of a black widow, Aoko's face stiffened. She rolled her eyes at him with a look of annoyance, tossed her hair, and turned to open the wardrobe, searching for suitable clothes, leaving him with only a back view of her long, flowing hair.
Through her long, straight brown hair, Haru saw her bright red ears and looked at the young woman's... ostrich-like... behavior with interest.
Sensing Haru's gaze, Aoko frantically sped up her movements. The rustling sound of clothes being put on quietly reached his ears.
Aoko, now dressed, gathered her long, straight brown hair and, with a raised eyebrow, said with annoyance, "...What?"
"The compensated dating fee is very expensive," Haru said with an impassive expression, though his deep gray eyes were filled with a teasing expression.
"..."
Aoko was so angry her whole body trembled. Her right hand held a grinding-stone-sized Blue magic bullet, and with a humorless smile, she said,
"Believe it or not, I'll blow you up with one magic bullet right now!"
"...Aoko." Alice's gentle call reached the room.
For some reason, Aoko had a feeling that the gentle call was like a demonic sound from hell, and a sense of dread filled her heart.
The sudden voice made Haru's brow twitch. Afraid of being caught, he quickly sensed Alice's door. If she were to see him and her best friend, Aoko, in this situation, he had a feeling someone would die.
"Alice is waiting for you at the door," Haru said, relieved after sensing the specific situation.
"Coming!!!" Aoko replied hastily, and with a frown, she suppressed her discomfort and rushed out of the room.
Haru looked at the door Aoko had left open and sighed softly. He was about to get up. "Well then, I should..."
A thought flashed through his mind. Haru turned his head and, with a frown, looked at the city of Misaki outside the window.
An invisible ripple suddenly spread out.
It was the exceptionally familiar fluctuation of the 'Law.'
"Oh my?" Haru's lips curved into a faint smile, and he looked into the distance with interest.
