Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Heaven Dou City

The disturbance from the Devil God Tiger's corpse caught the attention of both Wang Lin and the Three-headed Mastiff.

A dark crystalline orb emerged, floating above the remains.

The orb caused a disturbance in the spatial structure around it.

"No, it's trying to escape," warned the Three-headed Mastiff.

Wang Lin did not understand what the mastiff meant, but he knew something was suspicious about the orb.

He tried to grab it with his hands, but the repulsive force it generated kept everything away.

The spatial disturbance stabilized as a portal formed. Wang Lin noticed this development and used one of the most powerful skills in his arsenal, the Dragon God's Claw.

The repulsive force disappeared, and the orb that had been trying to escape was now held motionless in his hands.

"What is this? It looks like a soul core," said Wang Lin.

"You aren't wrong. It is a soul core, but of a different kind. It's an inner core that only a few beasts have," replied the Mastiff.

"Is it valuable?" asked Wang Lin.

"I don't know, but I do know that you won't find something like it for a long time. Beasts that are descendants of evil gods are not easy to find," said the Mastiff.

"So you're saying this stupid cat was rare?" said Wang Lin as he pointed to the minced Devil God Tiger remains with its spirit ring floating above.

The Mastiff nodded with all three heads.

"Say, Mastiff, do humans pay well for spirit beast meat?" asked Wang Lin.

"I don't know how humans trade, but I believe human spirit masters would kill each other for that spirit ring," said the Mastiff, pointing his paw at the black ring emitting an evil aura.

"Then let's sell this when we reach the human city," said Wang Lin as he stored the remains and the spirit ring of the Devil God Tiger.

**Heaven Dou City**

The streets of the Heaven Dou Empire's capital were bustling with activity. People from all walks of life flocked to the city.

Merchants sold their wares, and nobles traveled in their carriages. Near a butcher shop, a crowd had gathered.

"What do you mean you won't buy this meat? Don't you see this meat comes from a powerful beast? You won't find something like this even in your entire life!" yelled Wang Lin at the butcher.

"You bastard, who wants your rotten meat? I can't even tell what kind of beast it is. At first, I wanted to give you some pennies because you both looked like beggars," shouted the butcher.

"But you bastard, you're demanding a thousand gold coins for this scrap of meat!" he yelled, spitting saliva over the meat on display.

Wang Lin and the Mastiff had reached Heaven Dou City. Though the Three-headed Mastiff was powerful, he was completely useless when it came to human affairs.

So the two of them, in their human forms, wandered the city looking for a place to sell the Devil God Tiger's meat.

Eventually, they found a butcher shop displaying all kinds of meat.

And that was how they ended up in this troublesome situation.

"Beggars? Who are you calling beggars? Do you want to end up like this meat? Try calling me that again," said Wang Lin menacingly as he grabbed the butcher by the collar.

A crowd gathered around, watching the scene unfold.

"Guards, someone call the guards! This guy is trying to kill me!" screamed the butcher like a pig about to be slaughtered.

The crowd grew larger as more people watched with interest.

A carriage decorated with delicate ornaments stopped at the edge of the crowd.

A person stepped out, with several attendants standing guard.

The crowd slowly made way as the person reached the center of the commotion.

"Brother, why don't you let this person go? I will buy your meat," said Xue Qinghe, the crown prince of the Heaven Dou Empire.

"You will? But I can't leave this bastard alone. He had the gall to call me a beggar when he can't even recognize how rare this meat is," said Wang Lin.

"Brother, you can't blame him. Anyone would misunderstand if they looked at you right now. And even if he knew how valuable the meat was, he couldn't afford it.

"Why don't you let this poor butcher go? I will buy the meat for double the price," said Xue Qinghe.

Wang Lin was annoyed at first when Xue Qinghe implied he looked like a beggar.

But once he glanced at himself and the Mastiff in human form, he understood. Wang Lin had dark hair with green hints from his poison heritage, while the Mastiff had red hair from his fire attribute.

Their appearances were exceptional, but their clothing was tattered robes that had seen better days. The ill-fitted clothes he got from storage tools after his tribulation were worn out from their long journey through the forest.

So it wasn't surprising the butcher thought they were beggars.

"Then it's a deal. I'll sell you the meat for three thousand gold coins," said Wang Lin with a grin.

"But Prince… he first said he wanted a thousand gold coins," said the butcher. He quickly shut his mouth after a glare.

"It's fine. I can afford it. Brother, let's talk elsewhere," said Xue Qinghe, signaling Wang Lin toward the carriage.

Wang Lin, noticing the huge crowd, followed Xue Qinghe into the carriage. The Mastiff followed silently.

"Brother, this person is…?" asked Xue Qinghe.

"This is the son of a distant relative. They left him in my care before they passed away," said Wang Lin with a sheepish smile, pointing at the Mastiff's human form, which looked decades older and had a full beard.

Xue Qinghe entered the carriage, but Wang Lin and the Mastiff were stopped by a guard.

"Prince, it isn't safe to let them in the same carriage," said the royal guard.

"It's fine. They are my guests," said Xue Qinghe, signaling the guard to step aside.

Wang Lin, the Mastiff, and Xue Qinghe traveled in the carriage. As they moved deeper into the city, the neighborhoods and buildings grew more luxurious.

"Brother, if you wanted to sell this meat, shouldn't you have gone to a place that deals in spirit beast meat?" asked Xue Qinghe.

"Why didn't I think of that…" muttered Wang Lin.

"Sometimes I wonder if you think at all," added the Mastiff, who had been silent this whole time.

"What?" asked Wang Lin, but the Mastiff ignored him.

"Brother, here are the gold coins I promised," said Xue Qinghe, handing him a card.

Wang Lin looked confused.

"Brother, you can exchange this for gold in many places," said Xue Qinghe, eyeing him suspiciously.

"Brother, I would like to ask for a favor. I will compensate you with many gold coins," said Xue Qinghe.

"Let me hear it first," said Wang Lin.

"Beast tide."

"What?"
