Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

November 3rd, Age 762

A man and his daughter walk out of a clothes store, having just graduated. The girl is ecstatic to find out that her father planned to take her out for a shopping spree. Just then, they hear a commotion outside as even workers from the store they had just come from walk out, staring up and pointing at three white metallic spheres streaked with flames as they tear through the atmosphere toward them. Nearby, a man checks his watch. "11:43 AM" is displayed on his watch, just as the spheres seem to cool down, the flames dissipating. Their speed, however, seems to increase. They crash into the city, destroying cars, buildings, and sending debris flying in a 50-mile radius. The glass from the nearby buildings flew out, like small, deadly weapons, embedding themselves into the young girl. Her father, stunned by watching this gruesome sight, doesn't have to feel bad for much longer, as the building he had just spent his money in collapses atop him. The ground itself splits, opening up deep cracks in the ground, swallowing up onlookers. Most of whom tried to flee, but they met their ends by either being crushed to a fine paste by debris or falling buildings, or being made into human porcupines by the glass.

The few lucky survivors stand stunned, their eyes wide like saucers. Wheeling from the impact, they gather themselves and go close to where the spheres landed. As a result of their speed, the pods created 3 craters nearby each other. The humans gather around the craters and peer in. "W-what is that?" A well-dressed man, in a tuxedo, questions his once neat suit, covered in dirt, and his hair, once styled wonderfully, now disheveled.

"It's gotta be some sorta ship." Another man in a hard hat responds, saying what they are all thinking in that moment.

"Like from outer space?" The man clad in his suit questions incredulously, his hands fidgeting with his briefcase.

"Oh! That's it! It's a space pod. Like that one movie where the plant people took over the city and fought those other ones with masks."

"Someone, call the cops!" A man from the crowd yelps. While his friend nearby snorts, shaking his head. "Yeah, right, what are the cops supposed to do? They'll just say it's a weather balloon."

The same woman from earlier shrieks, "There could be thousands of tiny aliens in there!" The others surround the other pods. "There are more over here." Just as they are planning to get closer to them, an all too familiar hiss emerges from them. The doors of the pods emit the same vapour as was released before their descent, in an attempt to accelerate the pods' cooling process. Vegeta's pod is the first to open. He opens his eyes and pushes the door to make it open wider.

Standing tall, the saiyan smirks and flexes his arms. Looking around at the bystanders. The same bystanders, who are now exclaiming in panic as the aliens emerge from their pods. Escallion emerges next, his face marred, as he stretches his Trapeizus muscle by tilting his head to one side, bringing his ear towards his shoulder. All this in an attempt to soothe his soreness. Nappa emerges last, standing up with a groan.

"My neck is killing me." The eldest of the three commented, his face contorting in discomfort.

"Might want to look into a retirement home, Nappa." Escallion quips, finished with his stretches, his aches now soothed by his actions. This statement gains the younger saiyan a click of the tongue from his subordinate.

The saiyans slowly ascend from the craters, smirks adorning their faces. Escallion surveys the surrounding area as he rises and lands softly on the ground, with his comrades doing the same. The young sayain whistles loudly, "This place is most definitely better than Arlia. Seems like we have a welcoming party."

"Welcoming party, my foot. What should we do with these gawking fools? They bother me." Nappa's smirk deepens, his eyes gleaming with a sick and twisted intent, his arms fold as his eyes focus on Vegeta.

"Who are they?" A member of the crowd questions. Another responds with another question, "What are they?"

"Oh, I don't know. Why don't you two decide for once?" The short saiyan snorts, his gaze scanning the crowd of unsuspecting onlookers. Nappa's and Escallion's eyes lock, and the younger of the duo shrugs. "Do as you like, Nappa, I had my fun on Arlia."

"Heh! Really? Thanks, Vegeta. This is gonna be a lot of fun for me." Nappa unfolds his hands as the air seems to become denser and charged. Both the prince and Escallion chuckle, knowing what is to come.

"Don't mention it. Just make sure the fireworks are controlled this time," Vegeta responds curtly, grinning with his arms folded.

Nappa lowers his left hand, his ki gathering in it. Simultaneously, he opens it, and the yellow energy seeps out of his hand, coating it in a yellow hue. Sharply, the veteran saiyan, brings his hand up with his middle and index fingers raised to the sky. The once charged air erupts in a brilliant explosion, a blinding white light shines from the city with such radiance that it can be seen from lightyears away. Debris, dust, and pulverized matter are violently thrown outwards, creating a chaotic and visually impressive scene of devastation. The crowd's screams go quiet, as all that can be heard is Nappa's and Vegeta's laughter. Across the planet, earthquakes and a bright, prolonged flash of light are observed. Winds akin to those of a category 6 hurricane whirl through the entire planet. In some places, it breaks apart buildings and sends waves crashing into rocks, as they crumble under the pressure.

After the dust settles, all that remains from the city are the three aliens and their ships. With a move as simple as a hand gesture, East City is no more; in its remains are charred signs and smoking piles of dirt. The area is now completely leveled, lacking any sign of what once made it a bustling city.

The three extraterrestrials float above their handiwork, and Nappa laughs boisterously, his hands placed on either hip. "Do you think I was trying too hard to impress them?" Vegeta rolls his eyes, almost in a manner that implies the fact that he has gotten used to such things.

Escallion snorts, "I don't think there is anyone left to impress, Nappa. If that was what you had intended to do, you failed."

"Heh! If you want to have what they got, just wait till we get the Dragon Balls. I'll show you who failed." Nappa bares his teeth; his continuous banter with Escallion never ceases to find some way to irk him.

Vegeta intervenes before they can get too riled up, "I should have known better than to let either of you decide, all you two bone heads care about is destroying everything."

"Huh? But why Vegeta? A little destruction won't affect the sale price of this dirt ball." Nappa raises his eyebrow.

"Vegeta's right, Nappa, use that big head of yours for once, we came here for the Dragon Balls. Remember the wish for immortality." Escallion snorts, taking the opportunity to make fun of Nappa.

"Please tell me you remember the wish, Nappa." Vegeta trains his eyes on his bald subordinate.

As if dusting off the cobwebs from his brain, Nappa slowly starts picking up on what they are saying. "Well, yeah, Immortality, right?"

"And we need all seven balls to make said wish, right? So let me ask you, what if one of the balls was caught up in the explosion, from the city you just destroyed?" Vegeta berrates him, his rational thinking screaming at him at the mere possibility that, their sole chance gone, due to Nappa's blunder.

"It's partially my fault, I should have said something to him, Vegeta, my apologies." Escallion's smirk falls to a frown as he glances at Nappa from the corner of his eye.

Nappa looks toward the ground, his smirk also wiped cleanly off his face, replaced by a frown and furrowed brows. "I'm sorry, I guess I forgot bout that, huh?"

Vegeta scoffs, "Well, let's all forget about it. What's done cannot be undone. Besides, more pressing matters are at hand, we need to find out who has the highest power level. He'll be the one who took out Raditz." The prince raises a gloved finger, pressing the sole button on his scouter, thrice. This was mirrored by the other two sayains. A circular reticle displays itself on their scouters. Nappa looks around flabbergasted.

"Huh? More than half a dozen people on this planet have a power level of over a thousand. How is that possible?" The mustache-clad man questions, the trio glance around, their scouters, highlighting each of the power levels and their distances.

"They probably have been preparing for us. Not anything worth concern, though. Let's find the strongest one." Escallion smirks, his blood boiling at the thought of a semi-decent fight.

"Just found two of em, they have the highest power level on the planet." Nappa turns in the opposite direction to the one they were facing originally. This causes his two comrades to turn as well, and the once faded smiles return, in place of their downtrodden looks.

"Really? Good then. This may be interesting after all." Vegeta's smirk widens almost ear to ear. The trio dash off, leaving streaks of their energy behind them.

Watching the clouds underneath him, Escallion gets lost in thought. Nappa flies up and down, before flying close to them both. The proximity stirs Escallion from his contemplation.

"Amazing, this planet's weak gravity makes me feel like a kid again. I'm invincible!" Nappa laughs loudly, flying with a fist out, striking a typical superhero pose.

"We are here." Escallion interrupts Nappa's joy, coming to a sharp stop. Hovering in the air, he observes the land below along with the three who are residing on it, he stops quickly enough to hear the Namekian say something about their presence.

"Hey! That's enough of your small talk, they're here!" The Namekian seems nervous, his face marred and dripping with sweat. Just as he says that the other two smaller figures glance up at them.

"Another one?" Escallion questions, folding his arms, amused by the power level of these three, being a measly 3,500.

"What do ya suppose these three are doing out here, in the middle of nowhere?" Nappa questions, pressing the palm of his hand to his knuckles.

"I think they are waiting for us. No, I am sure of it." Vegeta responds, descending first, and the other two glance at each other and do the same.

A/N: Writer's block sucks, managed to churn out this chapter within a couple of hours. Finals are almost out of the way, so I can dedicate my energy to this project. This chapter, along with the previous one, is here to flesh out the dynamics of the trio. I had someone ask me the other day for the power levels, and they don't change much except for the Saiyans.

Vegeta's remains the same at 18,000. Nappa's power increases slightly as he spars with Escallion occasionally, despite the difference in their power levels. He is at 4,500.

And finally, Escallion's power level is 16,000, which is due to his intensive training, something that Nappa and Vegeta see no merit in.
