Chapter 404 - Chapter 404: Mom!

"Necrozma!"

Dusk Mane Necrozma fired a massive golden beam from its mouth—Photon Geyser!

BOOM!

The Photon Geyser struck Palkia head-on. Amid the deafening explosion, Palkia groaned in pain, its energy flickering weakly, the crimson glow in its eyes dimming significantly.

Clearly, Palkia had been critically wounded.

Dusk Mane Necrozma didn't bother finishing it off. That damage was more than enough to render Palkia inactive for the rest of the fight.

It swiftly turned its gaze to its kin—Dawn Wings Necrozma—who was still pushing Dialga back.

As expected of its partner! Gorgeous and powerful!

Dusk Mane Necrozma was pleased, even smiling—though it looked more like a menacing grin. Solgaleo's consciousness inside it was also smiling… but at Lunala inside Dawn Wings Necrozma.

"Necrozma, go harass that thing."

Dylan's voice echoed in its mind. Necrozma instantly understood, roaring as its body flared like a burning sun, dashing toward Unbound Hoopa.

Sunsteel Strike!

"Hoopa!"

Noticing the incoming assault, Unbound Hoopa roared and swung one of its severed arms.

A golden ring was thrown forward, expanding in an instant, materializing just before Dusk Mane Necrozma. Its center shimmered with strange light.

Necrozma immediately tried to divert, but the charge was too fast—it couldn't stop in time.

And so, it dove headfirst into the ring.

When its vision cleared again, Dusk Mane Necrozma looked around—

Nothing but snow.

A few Dewgong were lounging lazily on icy rocks.

Necrozma was dumbfounded. It scanned its surroundings rapidly—three giant question marks practically rising over its head.

Where the heck was this?

"…I think we're lost," came Solgaleo's voice in its mind.

Necrozma fell into silent contemplation before frantically unleashing its psychic senses—

Nothing. No trace of Dylan. Even their telepathic link was severed.

This…

"Necrozma!!!"

Its furious roar shook the heavens. The sheer pressure sent every nearby Lapras and Dewgong fleeing in terror.

But as its rage faded, Dusk Mane Necrozma was left… lost.

Where should it even go?

———

Meanwhile, back on the battlefield.

"Huh??"

Riding atop Reshiram, Dylan's eyelids twitched furiously as he watched Necrozma vanish.

Damn it! He'd forgotten Hoopa's rings could do that, too! Who knows where it just got warped to?

"Ha ha ha ha!!" Unbound Hoopa cackled.

"Hoopa!"

But Dylan reacted quickly—he had a Hoopa too!

"Leave it to me!"

Confined Hoopa eagerly plucked the golden ring from its horn and tossed it, waving its tiny hands.

"Hoopa~ Fishing time~!"

With its chant, the ring rapidly expanded—then, out tumbled Dusk Mane Necrozma, still trailing a bit of frost.

"Necrozma?"

Necrozma looked up in surprise—relieved to see Dylan.

"Don't worry. Go." Dylan exhaled in relief.

Necrozma's aura blazed back to life. With a furious roar, it turned toward Unbound Hoopa and charged again.

It was going to beat that cursed thing senseless!

"Hoopa!!"

Unbound Hoopa snarled and glared venomously at Confined Hoopa, then shifted its focus to Necrozma charging in again.

It flung four golden rings—each erupting with black energy as spectral fists emerged.

Hyperspace Fury!

BOOM!

Sunsteel Strike collided head-on with Hyperspace Fury. The sheer force triggered a sonic shockwave, evenly matched.

Necrozma was knocked back, flipping midair and bracing against the recoil. It lifted its head, eyes burning.

This opponent… was much tougher than Palkia.

Beating it wouldn't be easy—but Necrozma was far from discouraged.

It roared again and charged once more.

"With Necrozma's strength, holding Hoopa off is enough."

Dylan glanced at the battlefield. He had no intention of pushing Necrozma to Ultra Burst just yet.

A fight like this? He was going to enjoy every moment.

"Dialga and Kyogre won't last much longer. Calyrex…"

Dylan looked toward the Black Steed King, still being chased around by Origin Giratina.

That Shadow Sneak move was proving ridiculously hard to deal with.

Even though Starfall had a type advantage, Giratina's ability to "phase out" made it incredibly evasive.

Calyrex had no choice but to stay mobile and drag things out. Fortunately, it was still holding on.

"Zygarde won't last much longer either."

He turned his gaze toward Black Kyurem, who was still hammering down on Complete Zygarde. Dylan couldn't help but smile.

That's my ice dragon. Ruthless.

"Time to take care of Black Rayquaza first."

"Eternatus!"

A deep roar followed as Eternatus descended again, its spiraling body a daunting sight.

"Max Beam!"

Eternatus's claws flared red. Twin Max Beams shot toward Black Rayquaza.

Rayquaza noticed the threat and soared upward, narrowly dodging the beams.

"Blizzard!"

Shiny Mewtwo Y raised its arms, drawing blue energy before pulling it downward.

Whoosh!

A frozen gale howled forth—Blizzard!

Though Delta Stream nullified Flying-type weaknesses, Rayquaza still took double damage from Ice.

"Rayquaza!"

Rayquaza retaliated with a howling gust—Hurricane!

The violent tornado ripped through the blizzard, blasting directly at Mewtwo Y.

Caught off guard, Mewtwo raised a psychic barrier to block it—though the impact sent it flying with a crash.

"Extreme Speed!"

A blur of crimson—Little Rayquaza rammed directly into its mother's back.

Black Rayquaza grunted, recovering swiftly, eyes flaring crimson as it turned to face the attacker.

"Rayquaza!"

Its roar sent shivers down Little Rayquaza's spine.

"Dragon Pulse!"

Little Rayquaza fired a beam of draconic energy—gritting its teeth.

Sorry Mom! But this is for your own good!

Rayquaza fired back immediately. The twin Dragon Pulses collided and detonated.

The blast sent both dragons howling in pain—Little Rayquaza's scales chipped even more.

"Max Beam!"

Dylan didn't let up. Three-on-one—no mercy.

Eternatus fired again. This time, the beam struck true, slamming into Black Rayquaza's chest.

BOOM!

It roared in agony.

"Blizzard!"

Mewtwo returned and fired again.

Black Rayquaza countered with Extreme Speed, piercing the storm and slamming into Eternatus's claws—knocking them aside.

But Eternatus tanked the hit, barely budging.

It wasn't going down that easily.

Then came a well-aimed Dragon Pulse—again from Black Rayquaza—knocking Eternatus's aim off.

Just then, an Ice Beam came streaking in.

Black Rayquaza turned, crimson eyes glaring—

Too slow.

The Ice Beam struck its lower body.

CRACK.

Icy shards crawled up its torso.

Rayquaza roared and whipped its tail—Dragon Tail!

BOOM!

It smashed into Eternatus's claws—breaking the ice, but Eternatus stood firm and retaliated immediately.

"Max Beam!"

Another blast nailed Rayquaza in the chest, sending it spiraling downward.

"Dragon Ascent!!"

High above, Little Rayquaza was already in position.

Its red-green body twirled in the sky, gathering emerald light.

A glowing lance of green shot downward, piercing the storm as it slammed straight into Black Rayquaza.

Mom! This is my strongest Dragon Ascent yet!

BOOOOM!

The green streak smashed Rayquaza into the ground, carving deep cracks into the earth.

Black Rayquaza writhed in agony.

That Dragon Ascent hit hard—full of love and desperation from a devoted dragon child.

"Everyone's doing amazing!!" Lillie pressed her hands together in prayer.

Watching Black Rayquaza crash into the ground—she didn't know if it was defeated, but she was already thrilled.

"Mmhmm~ It really is super strong. But so what? Hehe~ It can take on two, maybe… but three?"

Leaf beamed smugly.

She hadn't forgotten how they first met it—on the Hoenn coast, when Super Rayquaza and Black Rayquaza overwhelmed both Primal Kyogre and Groudon.

But this time?

This time they were the ones overwhelming it.

"Emmm…"

Behind them, Xerneas—aloof and poised—watched Little Rayquaza ascend once more.

A strange look crossed its eyes.

Why is this Rayquaza… red and green at the same time?
