Father is quiet for a few seconds, stroking his beard after I bluntly question him about his visit to Dean Sawyer. I'm done running around in circles, or tiptoeing over the issue regarding my biological father and the impending general family meeting.
If Brett couldn't be bothered to be discreet about visiting his alleged enemy or even to show an iota of concern for how that could look to my brothers and I, there's absolutely no reason why I should take his feelings into account.
Knowing how sensitive this conversation could go, I already sent mother home. I didn't want her interrupting with emotional beats.
