Bella looked away. Her hand was trembling slightly in his grip.
Leo noticed.
"Does that scare you?" he asked softly.
Bella was quiet for a moment. Then she turned back to him.
"A little," she admitted.
Leo nodded without saying anything.
He let go of her hand and leaned back in his seat. His eyes drifted toward the window again.
"Jack is going to learn something today," he said. "He is going to learn that there are consequences for threatening the people I love. He is going to learn that the world is full of monsters. And he just happened to walk into the territory of one of the worst."
A dark smile crossed his face.
"And I am going to enjoy every second of it."
And the driver sitting in front, driving the car, shivered badly. His hands tightened on the steering wheel and he kept his eyes fixed straight ahead, pretending he had heard nothing.
