Chapter 22 - Chapter Twenty-One: When It All Began (모든 것이 시작되었을 때)

Jeon Arin POV (Point of View)

***earlier that day***

"I just got off the phone with your principal and I managed to convince her to let you go to school but you'll not be let off so easily though." My mum said with a sigh, massaging her temples.

I sat up from my bed, "What?! I don't want to get that kind of punishment!" I yelled in shock. "Then you shouldn't have done that!" My mum yelled back. I looked down at my hands, "Sorry for yelling." I said in embarrassment.

I heard my mum let out a sigh before she spoke up, "Get ready for school. The teachers are going to have a meeting with the principal this morning so you have to get there before the meeting is over." Then she left my room.

I stared at the door for a bit then reached for my phone on the night stand. Scrolling through my contact list, my eyes landed on Min-ho's number but I scrolled away and tapped Chaeyoung's number.

She picked up on the 3rd ring, "Yeah, what's up?" Getting up from my bed, I walked into the bathroom, "My suspension was lifted, so I'm coming to school."

"Really?! That's great! Mid-term tests are coming up so you need to come to school." She said with delight. I rolled my eyes but had a small smile on my face, "Did you miss me?" I said picking up my toothbrush.

"Of course I did! I was so bored and your brother kept bugging me." She grumbled. I paused my actions, and stayed silent, staring at my reflection in the mirror. "Uh, Arin?" I heard Chaeyoung say.

I spat out the toothpaste from my mouth and rinsed my mouth with a mouth wash, "Don't call him my brother. He is not my brother." I said coldly. "Ah, sorry. I thought you wouldn't mind." I heard her guilty voice and I shook my head.

"My mum isn't married to his dad yet, so don't call him my brother." I said, trying to lift her mood up because a sulky Chaeyoung is not my cup of tea. "Oh, that makes sense. When is the wedding anyways?" She asked.

"In August. It's still far and we will probably be on a break by then." I sighed into the phone. "We have a school trip to Jeju Island after our mid-term test. Do you know about that?" Chaeyoung asked.

"No? But thank you for telling me this." I hung up and got ready for school. I arrived at school and I saw Jiseo and her friends standing outside the school. 'Perfect.' I said to myself.

I got down from the car and was about to them when I noticed everybody was staring at a guy in shock and my eyes shifted to him. The smile on my face dropped in shock, "Oppa?" Standing before me was Min-hyun, my first love. 'So Min-ho wasn't lying when he said that his brother is back.' I said to myself.

I walked over to him and when he turned to me, I felt those feelings I had for him rushed back to me. He gave me a hug and Taemin just had to ruin our moment by talking. 'That bastard' I said to myself in annoyance.

After classes were over I turned to Chaeyoung, "Do you want to do some extra reading or should we just go home?" I asked, packing my stuff.

"Aren't you tired of your house? Let's just study for a bit." Chaeyoung said with a smile and I nodded and walked out with her to the library. My vision landed on Jiseo and Ha-ri studying with Taemin, Jaehyun and Dae.

I raised a brow in confusion, "Huh, when did they become friends?" "Huh? Oh yeah, they have been friends since. It's kind of surprising that Taemin and Dae are friends after how Taemin treated Dae in the past, the whole school is a bit surprised." Chaeyoung explained.

I stayed silent and walked over to their table, "Oh wow, guess what I just heard right now." I saw Ha-ri roll her eyes but the rest acted like I was invisible and kept reading. Chaeyoung walked to me, "I'm so sorry guys." She apologised before she turned to me, looking annoyed, "What are you doing?" She whispered.

"Oh, I just want to ask them some questions. I heard you all are friends right now, is that true?" I asked. "We're not friends." Ha-ri stated. Since she was the only one paying attention to me, I decided to add more fuel to the fire since she's known to be short-tempered.

"Oh, I guess you're right because I was so surprised why you are studying with the person that is known to bully your boyfriend." I said with a teasing tone. It seems like what I said made everyone at the table uncomfortable, well everyone except Jiseo. 'What's up with her? Why is she acting nonchalant?'

She kept studying, then turned the page of her book then looked at the time on her phone before looking at me, "It's past 7, this is a library where students come to study in silence and it's mid-term period but here we have an overgrown toddler looking for some kind of drama. If you want drama so much go and watch Telenovelas or some bollywood dramas." She said before turning back to her book.

"Get lost." Ha-ri said to me in a pissed off voice. Knowing her, she is kind of brave and she might actually beat me up in this library without a care in the world. "Also let me add, aren't you supposed to do some kind of cleaning? Or have you forgotten your punishment?" Jaehyun added.

I rolled my eyes and walked away from their table with Chaeyoung following close behind. "You had it coming. What did you even expect?" She said in an 'I told you so' tone. I rolled my eyes and sat down at a desk.

She shook my head at my reaction and brought out her books to study. I sighed and brought out my book too trying to convince myself that what I did wasn't stupid.

Kim Min-ho POV (Point of View)

"She knows that I saw her post and story and guess what, she also asked me if she can follow my account." I rambled to Min-hyun. "Well that's great. What did you say?" He said with a proud smile. "I said no." I replied.

His proud smile dropped from his face and he sighed, "Why are you so awkward?" He stood up from my bed and walked to me and placed his hands on my shoulder, "You need help and also why aren't you studying in school just like the rest of your classmates?"

"God forbid a guy is shy and likes the comfort of his own home but sure, whatever." I said with a shrug. "How many friends do you have except for Taemin?" He asked. My face dropped, "I and Taemin aren't friends anymore."

"Wait, really?" He said in shock. I nodded my head. "But how? You guys were tight as a knot when you were kids." He said in a confused tone. I sighed remembering that day.

****Flashback**** (Third person POV)

When Taemin and Min-ho were younger, they were very close. They were so close that you couldn't see one without the other. One unfaithful sunny day, Min-ho, Taemin, Arin, Ha-ri and Jaehyun were all going home, with their mothers for their winter break.

As of that time, Min-ho, Taemin and Jaehyun were 7 while Arin and Ha-ri were 6. They were all still friends then and so were their mothers. Even though Taemin wasn't rich like them since his mum was an actress and their own mothers owned top companies or were married to Chaebols in Seoul, they still treated him as an equal.

"Hey Min-ho, I got you a present for your birthday. I forgot to give it to you." Taemin said, handing Min-ho a wrapped present. Min-ho took the gift from Taemin and opened it with a smile. He brought out his gift and it was a snow globe with little reindeers and santa in his sleigh. Everytime he shook it, it would seem like it's snowing in the glass.

He looked back at his friend with a cheeky smile and gave him a hug, "Thank you." Taemin's mum chuckled and patted Min-ho's head, "Happy birthday Min-ho." Min-ho's mother walked up to them and gave Taemin a smile, "Wow, it's so pretty. Ah Min-ho, you're so lucky to have a best friend like Taemin. I'm jealous." She teased.

Min-ho giggled and ran to his other friends to show them his gift. Taemin was about to join them but Min-ho's mum stopped him when she saw blood on his forehead. "Ah Taemin, what happened to you?" She said with concern.

"I accidentally bumped my head into something but I'm okay." Taemin smiled, reassuring Min-ho's mum.

"Wow, it's so cool. Can I have a look?" Arin said looking at Min-ho's snow globe. Min-ho nodded his head and handed the snow globe to her. Arin stared at it in amazement but the globe dropped from her hand and was rolling to the road.

"Oh no!" She said in shock. Min-ho glared at her before running after the globe not knowing a truck was approaching.

"Min-ho!" Taemin's mum yelled then left Taemin's side and ran to Min-ho. She pushed him away from the truck but unfortunately she ended up getting hit by the truck and her body went flying and landed on the ground with a loud thud. The truck drove away, leaving her body on the ground.

Taemin stared at the sight in shock, the colours drained from his face as he stared at his mum's limp body lying on the ground. "Mum!!" He cried out then rushed to his mum's body. Min-ho's mum ran after him, "Yuna!!" She screamed. The rest of the group ran to the scene and Jaehyun's mum quickly called the ambulance.

Min-ho's mum ran to her son's side and lifted his body from the ground. He didn't get into any serious injuries, just a bruise from the push but he fainted due to shock. "Mum!!" Taemin cried shaking his mum but she wasn't responding.

The mothers shielded their children's eyes from her body with tears in their eyes. Min-ho's mum went to Taemin's side and gave him a hug, pulling him away from his mum's limp body. "Aunt please tell my mum to wake up. Please." He cried into her shoulders.
