Darius' POV
No one—no one—is going to take Allison away from me. I've made my decision.
I went to Francesca's hospital, only to be told she had been discharged. She was back home with her family. Then I heard from Grenade that Francesca and Allison's father had been talking, scheming, planning to marry Allison off to Jeremiah.
That will never happen. Not while I'm still breathing.
That's why I'm here now. No weapons, no backup—just me, standing outside this house, ready to beg for the love of my life. That's why I haven't touched a cent of the money wired to me. I don't want it. I want her. I need Allison before I lose my mind.
The guards at the gate let me in too easily, like they've been expecting me. And that alone sets me on edge. Last time I was here, there were no guards at all. Now there are men stationed like sentinels, and yet… they're not stopping me. If anything, they're allowing me to walk straight into whatever trap has been laid for me.
