Andrew didn't waste a damn second on a phone call. He pressed video call right away. The image that greeted him made every hair on his body stand on end.
Maxwell had the phone set up already so that Andrew had a full view of him. He was sitting at the counter of their kitchen eating a meal of some kind. Alyssa was in the background and Leonardo popped his head in to give a wave before he disappeared from frame. A glass of orange juice slid in shortly after that.
Maxwell looked like death. As much as Andrew had dressed him, he didn't look well. He looked drained, emotionally and physically. Andrew had done that to him. A sense of guilt welled up inside of him as Andrew glanced around, looking for anywhere private that they could have this phone call.
It wasn't going to happen. Most of the rooms had patients and Andrew didn't want to bother Nicole with Maxwell's rage. This was all on him.
