Master Tobias' voice resonated inside her soul.
It was what he said to her before their attempt to flee the scene.
'Where am I?' Vanessa thought uneasily.
She tried opening her eyes to look around and see where she was, but nothing happened.
No matter how much she tried, nothing happened; she couldn't feel her eyes.
In fact, she couldn't feel anything at all.
Not her eyes, not her hands, not her legs, not even her own body, or at least not in the physical sense.
All she could feel right now was excruciating pain that numbed her soul.
'It hurts… What's happening? Did I die? The last thing I remember was Tobias stabbing me in the chest. Is this what it feels like to die? It's not really what I expected. It felt like nothing.'
