Chapter 292 - The End of the Team Event

MHA Universe, Earth, Japan, Musutafu.

{"Hey, Aizawa… Does what Soramoto did to defeat Monoma count as teleportation?"} Hizashi asked after seeing Tatsuo easily dismantle both Neito and Sen. {"I mean, Kaibara's hand did just teleport from one place to another, right?"}

Shota did not even deem a response necessary for Hizashi's question. Instead, he followed the action in the stadium with a critical eye.

A moment later, the sound of Hizashi scratching his head sounded through the speaker system.

{"I guess that's a no, huh?"} Hizashi asked, his usual energy absent for a moment. But that moment did not last for long, as his volume spiked to its normal decibel count once again. {"But it looks like you were right! It seems that Soramoto is truly enjoying the rule changes to the fullest."}

{"Yes, it would seem so."} Shota drawled in a tired tone. {"Now, would you please lower your voice? I, and all of the audience, am right here."}

Despite the fact that he sounded completely uninterested, there was one fact that Shota noticed almost immediately after the event started. However, to not give the other teams any more advantages after the rules changed, he kept it to himself.

'Just where did Hanekura go?' Shota asked himself as he swept the field.

And just as Shota was wondering, Akatsuki, real name Hanekura Shizuka, had completely disappeared from almost everyone's awareness as soon as the event started. Putting her [Sneak Quirk] to full use, she for all intents and purposes, tip-toed through the battlefield.

'Something tells me that if I take Todoroki-Kun's, Bakugo-Kun's, or Midoriya-Kun's flags, I'll never hear the end of it from Tatsuo-Kun.' Akatsuki thought to herself as she surveyed the available targets. 'So, I guess that leaves the weaker opponents for me to steal from. Well, I gotta admit, the tournament wouldn't be as fun if all the stronger contestants got eliminated at this stage.'

With that, Akatsuki continued to look for a target. And before long, after only about three minutes, she decided on the first flag she would steal.

'Well, since Tatsuo-Kun already knocked out their offensive members, they really don't' need their flag, do they?' Akatsuki asked herself rhetorically as she started to move towards Team Monoma's base.

"Damn, it looks like that arrogant bastard was able to take out both Monoma and Kaibara." Kosei, while standing atop the walls of the base that were completely black in color, said while looking over the battlefield with his right hand shielding his eyes from the sun. "Tch! I told them they should have let me come with them. Then, we would have been able to show that arrogant guy his place in the world."

"Yes, because beating him in a one-on-three would have been just what was necessary to break his arrogance." A voice speaking in a sly tone said from inside the base. "I can see it now, his response would have been… *Cough* It's not like you would have been able to beat me if it were a one-on-one."

The sentence was spoken in the same tone Tatsuo used to ask who was coming in second during his speech at the opening ceremony. And that was more than enough to make the competitive Kosei whip his head around and glare at the speaker.

At the end of Kosei's line of sight stood his last teammate, Kuroiro Shihai, a tall young man with fluffy white hair, long, narrow, black eyes, and an irritated expression on his face. However, his most prominent feature was his pitch-black skin, which was a result of his [Quirk], [Black], which allowed him to merge himself into any black, or nearly black, colored surface and move through the surface.

"Shut up, Kuroiro!" Kosei shouted angrily while completely turning around to glare at his teammate. "Like he would have been able to make it to the last round if he was taken out. Those girls on his team are nothing compared to him!"

Meanwhile, at the moment Kosei turned around, Akatsuki, who had just reached the base of the wall he was standing on, quickly scaled the wall before crouching near its edge with neither Kosei nor Shihai able to see through her [Sneak Quirk].

'Man, this guy must really have to talk himself to sleep every night.' Akatsuki muttered internally. 'Should I just take them out while I'm here? No… Taking out the loud one would be no problem. But I can't remember what the dark one's [Quirk] is. And because I'm short on intel, that would only slow me down if I got in a fight with hm. Then again, with Sakura and Hatsume-San holding our base's defense, we probably don't even need to get another flag.'

As those thoughts ran through her head, Akatsuki watched the argument between the two boys grow more heated. So heated, in fact that neither one seemed to be paying much attention to their flag.

So, without wasting any time, Akatsuki swiftly leapt down from the wall, her landing completely silent, and darted through the base toward the flag. Then, upon reaching the flag, she plucked it out of the ground and kept moving before scaling the wall on the opposite side of the base and leaving the area.

By the time Shihai noticed the flag was gone, he had been arguing with Kosei for three more minutes, resulting in another argument about whose fault it was that their flag was stolen.

And while the two students from Class 1-B continued to argue, Akatsuki continued to roam the field stealing three more flags. The first was from Team Hagakure, Hagakure Toru, Jiro Kyoka, Asui Tsuyu, and Sato Rikido. The second came from Team Shinso, led by Shinso Hitoshi and three students he used his [Brainwashing Quirk] to control. And the third was Team Mineta, which consisted of two General Studies students, Mineta Minoru and Koji Koda, and Shoji Mezo from Class 1-A.

'Alright, that should be enough.' Akatsuki thought to herself after leaving the last base, now four flags richer. 'I'll head back to the base and drop these off. Then, I'll see if Sakura and Hatsume-San need any help in the defense.'

Decision made, Akatsuki rushed back to the base. However, when she arrived, she finally realized just how hard it would be to get back into the base without being found.

Currently, three teams offensive members, Team Bakugo's Katsuki and Mina, Team Todoroki's Shoto, who had regained the use of his right side, and Tenya, and Team Midoriya's Izuku and a girl from Class B, Shiozaki Ibara, a rather cute girl standing about 5'6" tall with dark green eyes, and green, thorny vines in place of hair that she could manipulate with her [Quirk].

The scene was incredible from Akatsuki's point of view. Whether it was Izuku zipping from place to place wrapped in arcs of green energy throwing punches and kicks that either deflected or obliterated shadow tendrils and capture foam or Katsuki doing the same with explosions. Then there was Shoto freezing capture foam before it could get close while blocking shadow tendrils and attacking the base with instantaneously created glaciers only for flame throwers to pop out of the walls to turn those glaciers into clouds of steam.

On top of that, Tenya was running around the perimeter at high-speed while looking for any opening he could exploit to close in on the base in an attempt to get in and out with the flag faster than anyone could react. Or the way Ibara used her vines to wrestle for position with Sakura's tendrils to make opening s for Izuku to burst into the base. And lastly, Mina's acid, whenever it landed on the base's walls, slowly ate away at the defenses until Sakura's shadows expanded and drew the acid into her [Shadow Space] to stop her corrosive attempts.

"Oh, this looks like a good time!" Tatsuo shouted from the distance.

'Of course, there's no way he would miss a melee like this.' Akatsuki thought as she heard Tatsuo's shout. 'Actually, I'm surprised he wasn't here sooner. It only makes me wonder how many people did he traumatized before he decided to come back. There are only ten minutes left in the event.'

Looking in Tatsuo's direction, Akatsuki could only shake her head. However, when she saw Tatsuo's brows furrow slightly, she knew that something was about to happen. And because of that, she wanted to get back inside the base as quickly as possible.

'Not to mention, we won't get credit for taking these flags if I don't' get them into the base.' Akatsuki said to herself as she carefully approached the base.

However, before she could get too close, Akatsuki saw Tatsuo disappear abruptly. And when she saw that, her eyes widened in surprise.

"Oh, God~~~~~~~~! Yes!" Mei screamed in an almost orgasmic manner. "The data! I got the data! Mmm~~~~~! Just think of all the babies I can make with this data!"

'Well, at least I know where he [Blinked] to.' Akatsuki thought to herself while smiling wryly as she watched Sakura's shadows fluctuate unnaturally at Mei's scream. 'But why did he go straight to the base? I thought he would have thrown himself right into the fight going on outside.'

Akatsuki and Sakura were not the only ones to react to Mei's totally unlady-like scream, as many of the people in the stadium, and watching all over the world, either winced uncomfortably, like Ryuko, or began laughing uproariously, like Alfonzo and Rumi. There were even quite a few young ladies who began to blush in secondhand embarrassment, as well.

{"Well, that was… not quite family friendly… Hopefully, that will be edited out during the live broadcast's delay."} Hizashi shouted over the broadcast system. {"But more importantly, it looks like Soramoto has just teleported away. Is he breaking the rules?"}

{"Check where he teleported to before asking questions like that."} Shota shot back, his tone sounding more tired than usual after Mei's outburst. {"The rules state that teleportation is restricted when teleporting outside of one's base. But if you open your eyes, you'll see that he just reappeared inside his own base."}

And just as Shota said, Tatsuo just [Blinked] next to his flag. And when he reappeared, his fingernails were coated in midnight purple [Energy]. At the same time, six thorny vines drilled up from the ground around the flag.

And based on the way Sakura's eyes widened when the vines broke through the ground, she would not be able to react fast enough to sever the vines before they wrapped themselves around the flag and retreated underground again.

*Swish!* *Swish!* *Swish!* *Swish!* *Swish!* *Swish!*

Yet, because Tatsuo [Blinked] near the flag, he was able to cut through all six vines with his [Spatial Rend], saving the flag from literally being stolen out from under them.

"He actually noticed that?" Ibara asked in astonishment as several vines were pulled out of the ground behind her.

{"Incredible!"} Hizashi shouted, his loud voice making many in the audience wince. {"Because teleportation was restricted, no one expected Soramoto to use it defensively. But as Aizawa said, that's not against the rules. I gotta say it again, Incredible!"}

"If Soramoto-Kun had taken a little longer to get back, we would have been able to take his flag." Izuku said in a slightly disappointed tone.

"No, you wouldn't." Akatsuki's voice said from just above Izuku's head. "This whole stadium is within his range of spatial awareness. So, no matter where he was, he would have popped into the base to stop you from taking the flag."

"Huh?" Izuku intoned in confusion as he raised his head. "Hanekura-San? Urgh!"

As an answer to Izuku's question, as soon as he raised his head, a small foot stepped onto his face, leaving an imprint of Akatsuki's sports shoe on his forehead, while using him as a spring board in his confusion.

*Bang!*

In the next instant, Sakura, seeing Izuku's confusion, slammed one of the shadow tendrils into Izuku's torso, sending him flying backwards.

Yet, thanks to [One for All: Full Cowl], Izuku took very little damage from Sakura's sneak attack. So, while flying through the air, he was able to catch sight of Akatsuki when her [Sneak] was deactivated upon contact with him. And when he did, his eyes widened in surprise.

"When did she manage to get four flags?" Izuku questioned loudly before slamming his fists backwards and arresting his momentum with the shockwaves his punches produced. "And who do they belong to?"

Izuku's shout caused Mina, Katsuki, Tenya, Shoto, and Ibara to stop their assault and look at Akatsuki, who was soaring over the base's wall with four flags in her arms. But just like Izuku, none of the five knew whose flags they were. And that caused them all to panic, worried that their own base's flags were among the bundle.

"Damn it, if those two let that extra steal our flag, I'm gonna kill both of them!" Katsuki shouted as he turned towards his base and blasted off with a pair of powerful explosions. Then, while in midair, he barked an order at Mina. "Pinky, you stay here and keep attacking! I'll be back after I see if those two screwed up!"

"Don't call me Pinky!" Mina shouted in defiance as she sprayed another stream of liquid at the base's walls.

"Todoroki-Kun, I'll go check on the status of our flag, as well." Tenya said in his usual, disciplined tone. "I will return once I've---"

"No need." Shoto said, cutting off the rest of Tenya's sentence. "Don't forget about the transceiver Yaoyorozu-San gave me before the event started. I've already asked about the flag. And ours is not among the ones Hanekura stole."

"Understood." Tenya replied, his eyes shining with relief and even more determination to take the 10,000,000 point flag.

"Shiozaki-San, keep attacking!" Izuku shouted at Ibara, who was looking worried. "There's no way they went after our flag. Soramoto-Kun would never want to eliminate any of the teams with the highest score. Otherwise, that would make whatever comes next less interesting for him. Trust me, our flag is fine."

While it had the effect of calming Ibara, who was starting to panic, Izuku's shout actually affected Katsuki the most, causing him, who had not traveled too far yet, to stop. He then quickly turned around with a snarl on his face. And it was easy to see that he was completely pissed off. Pissed off because he did not analyze Tatsuo's personality. And even more pissed that it was Izuku who did so. And worst of all, the fact that he subconsciously believed that Izuku was correct, causing him to turn around immediately instead of continuing to check the status of his own flag.

As Katsuki was flying back towards the base, he saw Tatsuo leaving the base again by leaping off the wall. And when he saw that, Katsuki flung himself right at Tatsuo, seeing him as the perfect target to vent his anger on.

Naturally, Tatsuo noticed Katsuki as well. So, with a smile on his face, he took his fighting stance, ready to engage Katsuki once again.

"Die!" Katsuki shouted as he created the largest explosion of the day once he was close enough to Tatsuo.

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

The sounds of explosions sounded constantly once Katsuki reached Tatsuo. Yet, Tatsuo did not focus all of his attention on Katsuki. Instead, he moved around the base, intercepting anyone who looked like they were gaining an advantage over Sakura and Mei's defenses. And with Akatsuki inside the base, he did not have to worry about Ibara making a nother sneak attack on the flag, as she cut down any further attempts from the vine-wielding Heroine in training.

Like that, the time passed quickly, with more students joining the attack on Team Soramoto's base. However, despite how many students there were attacking, they were unable to break through the defenses that were set up.

{"And that's time!"} Hizashi shouted over the broadcast system. {"And despite the odds, Team Soramoto managed to hold on to their flag while stealing four other flags from the competition, making Team Soramoto the winners of the Capture the Flag/Fortress Defense Event~~~~~~~!"}
