Chapter 114 - Chapter 112: Eyes Upon the King

Chapter 112: Eyes Upon the King

Silence returned to the frozen wilderness.

The battle was over.

The dead were gone.

The White Walkers were gone.

Only destruction remained.

Miles of land had been transformed beyond recognition.

Burning forests stretched across the horizon.

Melted ice formed steaming rivers.

Gigantic craters scarred the earth.

The battlefield resembled the aftermath of divine wrath.

At the center of it all stood Jon Snow.

The cold wind blew through his hair.

The rage that had consumed him since the memorial had finally begun to fade.

Not disappear.

Never disappear.

But fade.

The White Walkers who had attacked his kingdom were dead.

The generals were dead.

Their armies were gone.

The message had been delivered.

The Night King would think twice before ever attacking Winter's Heaven again.

Jon looked toward the sky.

"Good work, buddy."

A deep rumble answered him.

King Ghidorah lowered its enormous center head.

The gigantic dragon king towered over the devastated battlefield.

Even now, lightning danced across its golden scales.

Its massive wings remained partially spread.

The storm clouds above still churned from its mere presence.

The center head lowered toward Jon.

The left head immediately pushed forward.

The right head followed a moment later.

All three wanting attention.

Jon laughed.

The first genuine laugh he had made in days.

"You three never change."

The center head nudged him carefully.

The left head growled proudly.

The right head let out a pleased chirping sound.

To anyone else in the world, the creature was a living catastrophe.

A monster capable of destroying kingdoms.

To Jon?

It was family.

He still remembered the day the egg hatched.

Back inside the Training Dimension of the Gods.

Years ago.

A small creature emerging from an enormous egg.

Three tiny heads.

Three curious sets of eyes.

Back then it could barely fly.

Back then it would constantly follow him around.

Back then it wasn't a king.

Just a baby.

Then years passed.

The dragon grew.

Larger.

Stronger.

More powerful.

Until eventually it became what it was today.

A true king among monsters.

Jon gently placed his hand against the center head's scales.

The dragon immediately became still.

Enjoying the contact.

"You did well."

The center head closed its eyes.

The left head puffed itself up proudly.

The right head bumped the left one.

The left immediately snapped at it.

The right snapped back.

Jon shook his head.

Even after all these years, they still argued constantly.

The sight almost made him forget the destruction surrounding them.

Almost.

Eventually Jon sighed.

"Come on."

All three heads looked toward him.

"It's time to go home."

The dragon immediately became interested.

The center head tilted slightly.

The left head growled.

The right head chirped again.

Jon smiled.

"No. Not Winter's Heaven."

Instant disappointment.

All three heads visibly slumped.

Jon laughed.

"You've had enough fun for one day."

The portal to the Training Dimension appeared.

Golden light illuminated the ruined battlefield.

The dragon king recognized it immediately.

For a few moments Ghidorah simply stared at Jon.

Then the center head lowered once more.

Jon patted its scales.

"Go."

The dragon obeyed.

Slowly.

Reluctantly.

Its enormous body disappeared into the portal.

First the heads.

Then the wings.

Then the massive golden body.

Moments later the battlefield was empty.

Only Jon remained.

Alone once more.

The silence felt strange.

After the overwhelming presence of Ghidorah, the world suddenly felt smaller.

Calmer.

Jon stared at the destruction around him.

Then activated the Light-Weight Rock Technique.

His body slowly rose into the sky.

The ruined battlefield shrank beneath him.

Soon the clouds surrounded him.

Then he accelerated south.

Toward home.

Toward Winter's Heaven.

Toward his people.

The Night King would not attack again.

Not after this.

Not after witnessing what had happened.

Jon was certain of it.

What he didn't know...

Was that he was being watched.

________________________________________

Far above the mortal world.

Beyond the skies.

Beyond clouds and stars.

Ancient beings observed silently.

The gods.

For years they had watched the mortal world.

Kingdoms rose.

Kingdoms fell.

Wars came and went.

None of it mattered.

Mortals were temporary.

The gods endured.

Yet one mortal had repeatedly captured their attention.

Jon Snow.

________________________________________

Many years ago, they had first noticed him.

Not because of Winter's Heaven.

Not because of his kingdom.

Because of his power.

When Jon emerged from the Training Dimension after ten years of continuous training...

The gods sensed him immediately.

A mortal should not possess that much power.

His magical reserves were enormous.

His life force immense.

His soul strangely powerful.

The gods had become curious.

Several had attempted to observe him more closely.

To peer into his thoughts.

To uncover his secrets.

The attempts failed.

Every single one.

________________________________________

The moment they touched his mind...

They encountered barriers.

Layers upon layers upon layers.

Ancient seals.

Mental defenses.

Magical protections.

Mind barriers.

Techniques unknown to this world.

The gods had never seen anything like it.

Every attempt to penetrate deeper had been rejected.

Blocked.

Repelled.

One deity had even suffered minor backlash.

A humiliating experience.

Since then, the gods had grown cautious.

Because Jon Snow possessed secrets.

Many secrets.

And whatever protected his mind was powerful enough to resist divine observation.

That alone was concerning.

________________________________________

Then years later...

Another event occurred.

The weather changed.

Storms appeared where none should exist.

The winds shifted.

The skies darkened.

The gods investigated.

And for the first time...

They sensed Ghidorah.

The dragon king had briefly entered the world.

Only briefly.

Just long enough to alter weather patterns around Winter's Heaven.

At the time the gods had taken notice.

Nothing more.

The creature was powerful.

Certainly unusual.

But it vanished quickly.

The matter seemed unimportant.

So they ignored it.

________________________________________

Until today.

Today changed everything.

Today they had witnessed the dragon's full presence.

Its full power.

Its true scale.

And they did not like what they had seen.

________________________________________

The creature's magical reserves seemed endless.

Not large.

Not immense.

Endless.

As though the dragon possessed an ocean of power inside its body.

Its very existence affected the world around it.

Storms formed naturally.

The atmosphere changed.

The land itself reacted.

Reality seemed to bend around the creature's presence.

Even more disturbing...

It obeyed Jon Snow.

Completely.

Loyally.

Without hesitation.

________________________________________

The gods watched silently.

No one spoke.

No one moved.

They simply observed.

For the first time in many centuries...

Concern spread among them.

Not fear.

Not yet.

Concern.

Because they could no longer dismiss Jon Snow as an unusually talented mortal.

Nor could they dismiss Ghidorah as a powerful beast.

Together they represented something unknown.

Something unpredictable.

Something dangerous.

________________________________________

Meanwhile, far below.

Unaware of the eyes watching him.

Unaware of the discussions taking place among divine beings.

Jon continued flying south.

The lights of Winter's Heaven eventually appeared on the horizon.

A sea of light in the darkness.

His home.

His kingdom.

His people.

A small smile appeared on his face.

The war could wait.

The Night King could wait.

Tonight...

He was simply returning home.

And high above the world...

The gods continued watching.

Wondering.

Waiting.

Because for the first time in ages...

A mortal had appeared whose future they could not predict.

And that uncertainty worried them more than anything else.
