Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 : The Name that shouldn't Exist

Transmigrated Into a Period Novel: As a Supporting Character

The door creaked wider.

Cold air rushed in first.

Then—

Boots.

Heavy. Measured. Unforgiving.

A soldier stepped inside, uniform straight, eyes scanning the room like he was reading a death sentence instead of a space.

Behind him, more shadows filled the doorway.

The entire house felt smaller.

Tighter.

Like it was being crushed by invisible pressure.

Kelly didn't move.

But inside her chest—

Her heart was going insane.

Name… he asked for my name.

The soldier's gaze locked onto her.

"Name."

One word.

Flat.

Cold.

But it hit like a hammer.

Kelly's lips parted slightly.

Nothing came out.

Her mind screamed:

Why me? Why now? I just arrived in this world!

Behind the soldier, villagers gathered at a distance, whispering in fear.

"Is she really being arrested?"

"She must have done something terrible…"

But Kelly wasn't listening.

Because something was wrong.

Terribly wrong.

That voice…

Not the soldier.

The one behind him.

Calm.

Controlled.

And—

Familiar.

A second man stepped forward from the darkness outside.

He didn't enter immediately.

He just stood there.

Watching.

Then he spoke.

"Kelly."

The moment her name left his mouth—

Her body froze completely.

Not fear.

Not shock.

Something deeper.

Like reality itself had grabbed her throat.

"How… do you know my name?"

Silence.

Even the villagers stopped whispering.

The soldier beside her stiffened slightly.

But the man outside didn't answer immediately.

Instead—

He stepped forward.

Slowly.

Into the light.

And Kelly finally saw him.

Tall.

Sharp-featured.

Military aura.

Cold eyes that looked like they had seen too many deaths.

But what shocked her wasn't his appearance.

It was the feeling.

Her instincts screamed.

I know him.

Impossible.

She had never met him in this world.

And yet—

Her soul recognized him.

The man studied her face for a long moment.

Then spoke again.

Quieter this time.

"Kelly… you shouldn't be here yet."

Her breath caught.

"What…?"

The soldier beside her immediately reacted.

"Commander, this woman is suspected of hiding ration tickets and colluding with outsiders—"

"Silence."

One word.

The soldier stopped instantly.

No hesitation.

No argument.

The village went dead quiet.

Kelly's fingers trembled slightly.

Commander…?

The man's eyes never left hers.

And then—

He said something that shattered her understanding completely.

"You deviated."

Kelly frowned hard.

"…Deviated from what?"

For the first time—

Something flickered in his expression.

Not emotion.

But calculation.

Like she had said something unexpected.

He stepped closer.

One step.

Then another.

Until he stood just outside the doorway.

And the world seemed to hold its breath.

"You are not supposed to react like this."

Kelly's mind spun.

"What are you talking about?! I don't even belong here!"

The moment she said it—

The man's eyes darkened.

"…So you remember."

Her blood turned cold.

"Remember what?!"

Silence.

Then—

He raised his hand slightly.

And the air around Kelly shifted.

Not wind.

Not sound.

Something deeper.

Like reality bending.

The villagers gasped.

"What is that…?"

"She's not normal…"

Kelly's space inside her flickered violently.

For the first time—

It reacted on its own.

[WARNING: External Narrative Interference Detected.]

Her eyes widened.

"What…?"

The system voice returned again—

but it was different.

Distorted.

Unstable.

[Correction Agent Identified.]

Kelly's breath stopped.

Correction… agent?

The man in front of her finally spoke again.

Softly.

Almost regretfully.

"You were not meant to awaken the space this early."

Kelly's pupils shrank.

"…What space?"

He looked at her.

Long pause.

Then—

"One that doesn't belong to this story."

The world tilted.

Her knees nearly gave out.

Behind her, the woman from earlier stepped forward slightly, watching everything with narrowed eyes.

"Interesting…" she murmured.

But Kelly couldn't hear her anymore.

Because the man in front of her leaned slightly closer.

And said the final sentence—

calmly.

clearly.

like a verdict.

"This world is a written script."

"And you are not your original role anymore."

Kelly's breath stopped completely.

"Then what am I?!"

For the first time—

his expression changed.

Just slightly.

Almost like…

pity.

"You are an error."

Silence.

The word hit harder than any blade.

Error.

Not villain.

Not heroine.

Not character.

An error.

The air cracked.

The system inside her screamed again.

[NARRATIVE BREACH DETECTED]

[STORYLINE COLLAPSE IMMINENT]

The villagers began panicking.

"What's happening?!"

The wooden house trembled.

The sky outside darkened unnaturally.

And the commander raised his hand.

Slowly.

"Take her."

The soldier beside her moved instantly.

But—

Kelly's space exploded inside her mind.

Green light flashed through her vision.

Everything slowed.

The world fractured.

And in that split second—

The commander looked directly into her eyes and whispered:

"If you survive this chapter…"

"…don't trust the next version of me."

BOOM—

Reality shattered.
