Calvin and the others had already arranged a proper study plan for the kids. They had collected a lot of different books, so finding materials suitable for the kids wasn't that difficult.
Of course, the things they were studying weren't exactly the same as what they would have studied in school if schools were still functioning.
They focused more on common knowledge that the kids should know, like basic math and identification of important things. As for the other academic subjects, they were temporarily set aside.
They also added more relevant subjects, like where to hit zombies if necessary and how to identify weaknesses in animals.
These were added to what Ashlee and the others were learning since they were essential in their current environment.
