Su Nanxing was startled and almost threw her phone.
Lu Beiyuan glanced over: "She's calling you?"
Lu Beiyuan found it a bit strange too.
Su Nanxing said nervously, "What should I do? Should I answer? If I answer... what do I say?"
Lu Beiyuan held her in his arms: "Don't worry, listen to what she has to say. You didn't do anything wrong. Baichuan liked you back then—that's not something shameful."
"But I lied to her..." Su Nanxing still felt guilty. "I didn't tell her the truth."
"It's okay," Lu Beiyuan comforted her. "You didn't do it intentionally. Sometimes, life requires a few kind lies. Trust me, she'll understand."
The phone was still ringing.
Su Nanxing held it in her hand, feeling as if it were a hot potato.
Lu Beiyuan took the phone from her: "It's okay if you don't want to answer—I'll talk to her."
Su Nanxing shook her head: "No, I... I'll have to face it sooner or later."
"There's no rush; take it slow," Lu Beiyuan said, standing up. "I'll talk to her first."
