"Your mom's seventieth birthday, how come I didn't know about it?"
Lu Chenyuan dropped his hand from unbuttoning, turned back to look at Lin Yan, "I think you probably don't really want to go. I can help you find an excuse to pass it off. There'll be quite a few people that day, including some distant relatives. I'm afraid they'll bombard you with questions."
Lin Yan's expression turned slightly grim. Lu Chenyuan hadn't even asked her before declining on her behalf. What was that supposed to mean?
It's her mother-in-law's birthday; even if she disliked such occasions, she'd still show her face.
"My biological mom and her current husband are also going. Lu Chenyuan, can you tell me what this means? I can't figure it out."
Lu Chenyuan was also surprised upon hearing this.
"I don't know about that. I'll find out tomorrow. It certainly wasn't my invitation. Are you going? If you are, I'll have someone prepare a gift that suits their tastes, and it'll be from you."
