It was strange... Mat lay watching what appeared to be currents moving seaweed off in the distance. He was definitely in the sand, his little body laying as he looked around. He was breathing just fine, his lungs cycling the water as though it were fresh and clean air with just the same amount of resistance that air would give as well. It was like being in a dream.
He watched fish swimming high above. It seemed to be one of those times where he had been relieved of his overwhelming burden. Whoever those voices were in his head seemed to have something to do with what he was going through. For now though, they would continue to be nameless and faceless entities. Mat watched a small fish fluttering high above him, it too was strange though - the little fish looked more like a wierd bottle of some sort. It had fins though, as well as eyes...
What the heck was going on?
"Not a problem..." Alice said to herself with a smile as she looked up to a cliff face high above. It would be impossible for a normal person to jump such a great height, but in her Wonderland she was far from a normal person. Alice jumped as high as she could push herself to, and at the height of her jump she spun with a strange and majestic grace. The spin seemed to give her jump an added boost. Her skirt filled with water, slowing her fall as it fluffed up and she began to descend.
It wasn't high enough, but she wasn't concerned. She had her eyes set on a different target - a white Jellyfish float nearby. She brought her feet together just as they met the top of the Jellyfish. Her toes gently squished into the top as her weight shifted onto the creature, however, as soon as it reached a certain point the Jellyfish sprang upward launching Alice high into the air once more.
Mat looked down his little bare body to his feet as he lay. Just as he did so, he saw her appear. Alice only had a few inches of clearance as her feet landed in the sand, her toes digging in slightly to balance herself. She chuckled to herself at another successful jump before she began to walk forward. Her left foot lifted, her toes spread in the air filling Mat's vision with her sole for only a moment before she stopped.
Why? Just the sudden urge to look down...
"You again..." Alice said as she moved her foot back. She put her hands behind her back as she looked him over, tilting her head a bit. "I'd really love to stay and chat, but I have some very important business to attend to."
"How are we breathing?" Mat whimpered, the [REDACTED] having already returned from when she nearly stepped on him.
"I don't know, how do you keep coming back?" She asked in response, smirking down to him.
"Touche'. What's with the rush?"
"I've definitely wasted a lot of time relaxing with you. Not to say it wasn't fun, but there's more important things on my plate than that. I need to get back to Barrelbottom... A very important show is about to start at Dreary Lane." Alice replied, smiling gently down to Mathew as she brought her left foot back over him, her hands still behind her back. She didn't step down, she just held her foot over his body for a moment. "Maybe next time, Mathew."
Mat watched as her foot slowly descended. He wound up beneath the ball of her foot, his little body pressed down into the sand as Alice stepped forward. She had her hands behind her back still, lifting her right foot and going up onto the ball of her left so that more pressure could be applied to him for a brief second. She felt a quick and sharp pop beneath her skin as she looked down to see a mist of red begin to float up in the water around her sole. The pop was accompanied by a squeak, which made her giggle a little bit at the sound.
"That was cute..." She said as she brought her heel back down and stood there for a moment on his little body, her right foot stepping down as well.
The squeak was the air being popped from his lungs and out of his little mouth. He collapsed beneath her weight, the sand wasn't enough to save him completely as his body flattened against her skin. He wasn't dead though, not entirely... He was simply stuck to the skin of her foot like glue once more.
Alice lifted her foot and looked to the print in the sand where he had been. Some of the sand had turned red, but most of the blood was coming up in a small cloud floating in the water. She saw a few little bits of intestines in the mess floating as well, but she could feel his body still stuck to her skin. She chuckled, looking up to see Barrelbottom off in the distance.
She had to get back ~ And he wouldn't survive the journey
