Chapter 161 - 161 - She whom had been seen

*

What an odd dream. I couldn't remember much about it, but it still gave the a feeling that could be described as 'strange'.

Quietly, I sweeped the bedsheet to the side, lifting my legs to the side of the bed before letting them down to touch the floor. It happens that I managed to possess master's body just as she died, the reason I describe her state as suspended animation was that my being... Close to a magical girls, also eliminates illnesses and stops aging. My presence prevents the body from ever decomposing, and it could even regenerate if I activate the magical girl transformation.

I heave out a soft sigh as I lifted my body with my arms and back, throwing myself into the air as my legs subtly dance into a stable position. Am I becoming more human? I always feel so powerless right when I wake up, that I felt it to be more efficient to stimulate it strongly with all these theatrics, just to feel awake. I look straight and met eyes with Sariel, she woke up not too long after I did and was just laying there. Her neck was softly cradled by the fluffy hotel pillow, her cheeks squished against its cushion.

Her eyes were evidently open, staring straight into mine for a few seconds, before a curly smile rose from her lips.

"Morning~" (Yggdrasil)

I smile back. The first light of dawn had long kissed the interior of this room, thankfully we had a forgiving schedule for the last day. It was only 8 am,and we needed to gather and leave by 930 am. An hour was easily enough to get everything done, a morning shower, breakfast, packing, everything. It was certainly sad to part with this place, but it served its purpose well.

I planted my feet on the ground, at the bedside facing Sariel. I still had to walk around my whole bed to reach Arin. Gently, I nudged her back as some faint groans escaped her lips.

"Mnmm! Uhhh!" (Arin)

With one final forceful push, her eyelashes fluttered and her brows furrowed. With some effort, her eyelids lifted and she saw Yggdrasil the moment she woke up.

'Was this a dream? Ah! Right! We slept in the same room... But why is she so close?' (Arin)

Her thoughts raced as she lifted her body into a sitting position. Gradually, she took in the view around her from every angle as she regained her composure.

"Morning! Sleepyhead!" (Yggdrasil)

Her sudden greeting caused Arin to jolt upwards, frazzling her hair like a cat. With an abrupt shout, she became fully awake.

"Uwah!?" (Arin)

Leaving them to their antics, Sariel had picked up her toiletries and headed to her luggage for a change of clothes.

"Ah! Wait up! Let's go together!" (Yggdrasil)

If she wasn't overwhelmed by irritation, Arin would have noticed how much Yggdrasil had become natural in their back and forths. She has come a long way, slowly processing each emotion in a different way everyday. Even then, it was also human to try and learn as well as understand emotions. No one started off with perfect understanding, especially not understanding regarding the thoughts of others. People had to learn how to be considerate or rude through the actions of others, imitating and refining social actions before they became habits.

Arin would reckon that the ability to learn itself is human. Simply trying her best for the sake of others, Yggdrasil has done sufficiently well at that and should be proud of her accomplishments. Naturally, the person in question never noticed Arin's appreciation, nor would she ever be satisfied with her progress.

While Yggdrasil picked up her items in a hurry, Sariel waited in patience and let Arin take her time to find the right clothes. Rather, they had to wear their school uniforms anyway, representing the institution of residential zone 02A.

The ceaseless pitter patter of water droplets collide against numerous floor tiles, filling the distant backdrop with crisp splashing. If one were to listen carefully, there was also the faint sensation of landing on a nearer surface, softly spreading over the door before bouncing or dripping into the ground. Luxury baths separate by gender, splitting into two paths buried in corridors so the entrance wouldn't be visible.

The rustling of fabric nearly imperceptible, gently caresses the back of her ear. Keeping her eyes in front, Yggdrasil carefully undressed without damaging her undergarments. Gently, she folded her used clothes in a cubicle meant to store items before locking it. It's hard to say if there are any who would steal for physical nourishment in the age of abundance. Sure, there is likely nobody who would take money from others, in that case there are those who would steal for other reasons such as self gratification. These lockers were a measure for such cases.

She turned to face the side, it might be a little embarrassing but she had to check if her friends were ready. With nothing but a towel on, she paced towards the entrance, a treated and refined wooden sliding door. It's elegant texture made the sounds beyond all the more pronounced, causing those who had yet to enter to be conscious of all the splashing taking place. She turned around and her friends just about finished, with a wry smile on her face she beckoned them to come over.

Facing the door once more, for some reason she felt the need to take a deep breath. There were only fresh scents from all the shampoo wafting out, nothing strange there. She pushed it to the side, possibly putting too much strength as the door smashed into the frame with a loud thud. It didn't turn many heads, the water splashing was loud enough such that a little addition to the cacophony didn't seem out of place.

She felt her heart calm a little, before long they finished cleaning and were stewing in the hot spring. As usual, the hotel boasted that the minerals in the water helped with skin health, though it was just a trivial tangent in her mind Yggdrasil readily dismissed it as a hoax.

"Hey! I heard it's good for your skin!" (Sariel)

She exclaimed, pointing towards the clear water. Yggdrasil felt a faint irritation well up, but her eyes were inevitably drawn to where Sariel pointed. A deep blush bloomed on her face as her gaze fell on what was below the water's surface. Sariel's skin was pretty fair, when they aren't fighting Traces they would probably be at home anyway. The three were all members of the go-home club after all, they don't catch much sunlight.

Yet Yggdrasil can't help but catch herself in admiration of their beauty.
